that's just messed up b/c if we're using the hymen as an indicator of "virginity" then many times heavy exercise can break it so what's the girl supposed to do then and now this man that she married accuses the poor girl of not being a virgin.......it's wrong on so many levels

exactly...it can be broken by a number of diff things, just a tampon, exercising, or even from a trip to the gyne at times. believe it or not, a lot girls bleed (break the hymen) from heavy exercising.
so guys still believe this one, they expect a girl to bleed??
I think its a very cruel practice to demand virginity from women. Given the number of women wishing to lose it before marriage, it's impossible nowadays so men should learn to accept it as a norm.
I don't know about other guys, but if my wife was absolutely clueless about sex, I'd be pretty worried. Because that would mean one of two things, either she is retarded or an alien.

One of my friend got married and on the very first day of wedding his wife went back to her house and started crying and complaining her parents that why did you sent me to that house. Parents were confuse that what happened. BOTTOM LINE - there WERE some innocence few years back .. ..
Er if you want to marry someone you have zero trust in and you wouldn’t even trust her when it came to sex then that does not come across as impressive from your point of view.
