Australia’s cricketers are embroiled in a pay dispute with the national board that could drag on into the start of the Test series against Pakistan.
The players’ present deal, which expires in June next year, sees them receive a 25% share of the bulk of Cricket Australia’s revenue.
But CA wants to introduce a flat-fee structure for its players.
Australian Cricketers Association chief Tim May has presented the board with an argument for keeping the status quo.
“It’s the ACA’s job to negotiate and the players’ job is to play,” May, a former Test spinner, said.
“The players will know it’s an ACA responsibility and we’ll be handling it.”
Australia captain Ricky Ponting last week issued a vote of confidence in the ACA to carry out the bargaining, but admitted the wrangle was proving “a bit of a distraction” ahead of the first Test starting on Thursday.
The mightly loosers had to fix the pitch just to get a win against the aussies. They still lost the series and and at the same time got branded as cheaters.

Some people say that Pakistan is dangerous because they are unpredictable. I think they have always been very predictable at Perth :)
Even if Shoaib Akhtar does some wonder with the ball, the batsmen will still have to put up some sort of decent score. They can go with 7 batsmen just like what India does and can get the same results just like they get. As someone very rightly said, if your 6 specialist bastmen can't do anything, the 7th one wont do it either. But I think they must play 7 batsmen if they are to cross the 50 mark.
We can win this match if our pacers exercise great accuracy - especially the line and length…

i feel shahid afridi should be played as a bowler in tests? his bowling this year has been outstanding, regularly disturbing batsmen with his varied pace and spin options. what about u guys?
yaah but he is good only in short spells and for irregular batsman. the time a batsman pick up his vareities he is out of the game.
You can not afford afridi in Test....he doesn't understand meaning of wait and watch....that's what you need in test matches...He is too risky..yaar
