First Test-- Pakistan vs Australia at Perth (Bharaas merged)

First test starts in three days time on thursday. Pakistan IMO will comitt a hazardous mistake of fielding both Malik and Razzaq. I seriuosly hope that doesnt happen.

Probable Line up:

Salman Butt
Yasir
Younis
Inzi
Youhana
Malik
Razzaq
Akmal
Sami
Shoaib
Danish

I would rather see Khalil in place of Malik on perth pitch but most probably that will not happen cause of heroic performances of our batsmen thus far.

i would rather much have younis khan replace asif or khalil. atleast shoaib malik can be depended on to score 40, 50 runs.

Thats a negative mentality. We need to take twenty australian wickets to win a test match. You never know when anyone scores a few runs but you need at least four specialist bowlers to dismiss australia twice. If your first six betters cant score runs, it is highly unlikely that seventh one will.

i have a strong feeling that malik will be (atleast shud be) replaced by khalil....

we cant go on the perth pitch with two fast bowlers....
i dont consider razzaq any good for test bowling....

my bad i worded that wrong what i meant to say was that i would much rather have asif or khalil replace younis khan because i don't see him scoring until he is kept as a wicketkeeper. shoaib malik is a much better prospect. this will also give him a chance to develop his test game.

i don't think shoaib malik will be replaced by khalil just because he has been performing really well and why would u want to take him out. they shud try him as one-down. if we want pace in the team, we have other much better options

Saby I agree. Our brilliant Pakistani think tank will play Malik and Razzaq in a test match…and that will be one extremly pathetic decision :smack:

Sorry mates, if you feel it bad… but I really want to say this again…Let the Baqr Eid Begin… :bhangra: :nuch: :jhanda:

great, this year we will Three Eidsss

pakincerno, the only reason i think malik has to go is cuz the pitch is a fast bowlers' paradise and we need a pacer....

who else wud u drop????

younis khan might be dropped but looking at recent figures, i think malik will face the axe....
and that too cuz his bowling might not prove useful at all on this pitch....

i think younis shud be dropped and yasir should play 1 down

no one should b dropped, but infact, we should ask rather plead ACB to allow us to play with 20 players, then may be we can be able to kick Ausies buttss.. :)..

I dont know about fact and figures about the two new pacers, but we desparately need five genunine bowlers, make is 3 fast and 2 spinners or 4 fast and 1 spinner..
other wise, we wont be able to do much.. though our players are highly talented, but we literally have lsot faith in them. we can loose against Bangala desh or SL even. Any win from Pakistan come as surprise to us. specially in the tests now.

sorry mates, but I cant any optimistic any more.. though personally I pray that Pakistan should win, but I also want the good team and players to win..

lets see who is good enough.., :jhanda: Pakistan Zinadabad

In-form Salman certain to open against Australia](Yahoo! Sports Singapore | News, Scores, Video, Schedules & More)

Salman Butt is certain to open the Pakistan batting in the first Test against Australia on a wicket which his opposite number believes will have the fast bowlers “licking their lips”.

Salman has been by far the most consistent of the Pakistan batsmen so far on tour and was again the only one to offer serious resistance during the 10-wicket capitulation to Western Australia which finished a day early on Saturday.

His 47 on top of a century in a one-day match last week has Salman earmarked to try to take the shine off one of the world’s best bowling attacks in Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie, with the possibility of speed king Brett Lee also taking his place in the side for the match starting Thursday.

But the affable 20-year-old, who first opened for Pakistan against Bangladesh in Multan last year, said he was not nervous.

“It had to happen one day – when you play at the top level you have to face everyone,” he said.

"So that doesn’t matter … whatever comes in the way comes in the way.

“Cricket has been my passion since I was a small child. It is coming early to me but what I have prayed for is coming to me.”

Despite Pakistan’s failure to find serious form so far on tour, the Australians remain wary of a team known for its ability for produce top-class cricket in big contests.

Former Australian Test great Dennis Lillee has already warned against writing Pakistan off and opening batsman Justin Langer agrees, maintaining any team which includes Shoaib Akhtar in its attack will be dangerous.

Akhtar bowled just 17 overs in short bursts over the three days of the match against Western Australia but Langer said the Pakistanis were using him perfectly.

“If I was the captain of Pakistan I would bowl Shoaib (Akhtar) exactly how they do bowl him,” he said.

“I’d bowl him in short bursts … I’d have him running in and bowling as fast as he could even if it’s only three or four-over spells because I can assure you that he’s the guy you worry about when you go to bed at night.”

Langer, who opened for Western Australia in the win over Pakistan, said the Western Australian Cricket Association ground wicket – also the venue for the first Test – had been superb.

“Guys that applied themselves could make runs and for the bowlers there was pace and bounce,” he said.

"We have been craving to have these sort of wickets here because it brings some character back into the grounds around Australia.

“If we get that for the Test then the fast bowlers are going to be licking their lips I think.”

Pakistan headed for the nets on Sunday under the watchful eye of coach Bob Woolmer, who maintains his youthful side will improve with experience.

Woolmer said captain Inzamam-ul-Haq had been disappointed with his own form but had been getting his eye in during the second innings against Western Australia, when he was dismissed by a beautiful diving catch while on 14.

“He’s all right and he’ll play pretty well on these pitches,” he said.

Woolmer would not speculate on the team selection so it remains unclear who will partner Salman as an opener with Imran Farhat in poor form and Yasir Hameed having played barely any cricket on tour.

But other certainties for the side include legspinner Danish Kaneira who showed on the pace-friendly WACA pitch he will be a threat on the more accommodating wickets of Sydney and Melbourne.

Fast bowler Mohammad Sami is also a definite starter although Woolmer said he had been far too inaccurate during the match against Western Australia, bowling too many no-balls and struggling with his length.

“I’m sure he’s strong enough mentally to bowl well when it counts,” he said.

The Australians will train at the WACA ground on Monday.

Umpire calls for gentleman’s agreement between Australia and Pakistan](Yahoo is part of the Yahoo family of brands.)

PERTH, Australia (AFP) - Flamboyant Test umpire Billy Bowden has called on Australia and Pakistan’s cricketers to avoid controversy in their upcoming series by reaching a gentlemen’s agreement on disputed catches.

Bowden, who will officiate with South Africa’s Rudi Koertzen in the first Test which starts in Perth this week, said he wanted rival skippers Ricky Ponting and Inzamam-ul-Haq to agree to take the fielder’s word on doubtful catches.

“I believe in honesty whether it’s on the field or off the field,” Bowden said on Sunday.

"I just think for the good of the game, for the spirit of the game, it’s unfair to have someone knowing that they have not caught the ball and (the batsman) has been given out, or (the fielder) has caught the ball and (the batsman has) not been given out.

“I’d like to see some loyalty and integrity put back in the game.”

The 41-year-old New Zealander, known for his theatrical on-field signalling, said he orchestrated a similar pact between Australia and Sri Lanka in March and the series was played in good spirit.

Australia and New Zealand could not reach a similar agreement this summer and in the first Test in Brisbane, Kiwi batsman Craig McMillan stood his ground despite nicking a delivery to wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist, sparking some heated exchanges.

Although he said he would like an agreement between Australia and Pakistan, Bowden said he would leave it up to the teams.

“If they want to come to us and say that, brilliant, beautiful,” said Bowden, who has officiated in 21 Tests.

“But I don’t think from an umpiring point of view we’re going to make things happen.”

we need to play with 4 bowlers(include keneria)

I'll go in the test with

  • Salman Butt
  • Younus Khan
  • Yousuf Youhana
  • Inzemam-ul-Haq
  • Asim Kamal
  • Kamran Akmal
  • Abdul Razzaq
  • Shoaib Akhter
  • M Sami
  • M Khalil / M Asif
  • Danish Keneria

ager Rashid ka mun itna khula na hota aur Sheheryar & Inzemam kee us k sath "dushmani" na hoti tu Pakistan k tail zara dir sai shuru hotee. Hopefully Khali or Asif can bat a bit. Pakistan need last 4 playes of the lineup to make atleast 20 runs each.

an average of 30 from all 10 players in the six innings and we should be fine.

come on all u people with the negative vibes, i have got just one word for u BELIEVE

it's kind of hard to believe after the slaughter against western austrlia. i still support them but.....
