Re: first period

I was in Grade 8 when I first got my period. I was 14 years old. I remember I was in school and then I noticed blood and pain and ran to the loo. My friend was there with me and she told me about periods and gave me a pad.

By the way, what is up with the period threads today?

so mostly we girls dont know what are we going to get at that age…:smack:

Re: first period

Um no, but our daughters will most definitely.

Re: first period

Re: first period

mhmm.. :)

I knew what was going on I was clever :phati: just kidding.. we actually had a “talk” when we were started secondary school (in ireland). This lady gave a presentation on what it is, why it is, what we do, what the products are for, how they’re used, how often should they be changed etc etc etc..

I came back home and told mom what an interesting talk we had and mom was in shock!!! :omg:

My younger sister got hers at a very young age (12 or 13), even before her class had that talk… so she didnt have a clue coz none of her friends had it either… so mom played a mean prank on her and said OMG you have blood cancer!!! You’re gonna die… omg omg what do we do… sob sob … and my sister was in bits crying!!! :rotfl: … then mom hugged her and apologised and told her what it was about… :hehe:

Re: first period

I was 9 so v.young... I had no idea what a period was, all I knew was that I was bleeding :( Didn't do sex ed and all that till I was about 11. Mum was not much help, perhaps she was embarrassed or something but her best friend was lovely, kept asking me if I was ok etc, we had a wedding to go to that day so I remember it crystal clear.. Because I started so young I'll defo tell my daughter early so she doesn't get shocked like I did..

urrgg…i got mine when i was 13 year old.i was, too,at school that time:smack: and my mother was asking me what is this???after seeing blood stains on my shirt:o…i was like…I DONT KNOW:teary1:…i think she was trying to know…if i have any idea about periods:confused:

Re: first period

:hmmm:

Both of my parents gave me, my younger sister and my elder brother an individual “biology/puberty” lesson. I think i was around nine or ten.

I think my first period arrived when i was eleven or twelve. I was at home. Even though i was a little scared, i was fully prepared and knew what to do.

It’s all too common that mums and dads (not just asian) don’t talk about this kind of stuff with their children. I remember one girl at my school started her period during lunch break and because she didn’t know what a period was, she thought she was dying!!! I hadn’t even started my period then, but i was well prepared and had a little “kit” in my bag, so gave her a sanitary towel and some clean underwear.

I would deem myself a failure as a parent if i failed in preparing my children for some of the realities and certainties in this life.

Re: first period

Wow 9!

Periods is nothing, I got the shock of my life when I found out how I was born and how I did not come in a basket to earth from God. Ahem cough.

^ Same here:

I was convinced babies fall down from the sky into the hospitals and then parents go to the hospital to pick 'em up!

And I dread getting pregnant after our bio teacher told us “the labour pains are 100 times worse than the pains u experience during ur period”

hmmm like it…

There were 3 of 4 of us in my year who started that young, I remember cos we’d sit-out swimming lessons whilst everyone else was enjoying themselves and if anyone asked we’d say ‘I’ve got a cold’ lol

Someone told my the early timing might be genetic but I’m not sure.. if so my poor kids :bummer:

:cb:

Yeh even I am afraid, I don’t want to get pregnant now, I asked my mum just yesterday how she handled it and she is like if I can do it, you can too and I was like oh ok :frowning:

Yeh I thought about that too!

That is so cute!

When i was a kid, i used to think you placed an order in the hospital and then go pay, and pick the baby up. Then i realised that ladies have a bump, so i thought you prayed to God, and He will give you a baby…i used to pray to God to give me baby too! :cb:

BC: Don’t worry about labour pains yet! :smack:
