Aisam-ul-Haq qualifies for Wimbledon Tennis Championship
Updated at 1945 PST
LONDON: Aisam-ul-Haq of Pakistan has qualified for playing in the Wimbledon Tennis Championship.
In the third match of the Wimbledon qualifying round, Aisam-ul-Haq defeated Frank Densivic of Canada.
Though he lost the first set 4-6 but won all the next three sets to qualify for playing in the Wimbledon. His score in the last three sets was 7-6, 6-2 and 7-6.
Aisam-ul-Haq has become the second Pakistani player to take part in the Wimbledon singles event.
Now Imagine If he gets Roger Federer on Centre Court or Court 1 In the 1st round. That's be quite a honour for him.
His FIRST round match is against Lee Child of England who is actually ranked LOWER than Aisam which is a GREAT news because Aisam's recent form has been encouraging as he has beaten Richard Gasquet (World number 11) 2 weeks ago and just defeated Canadian number 1 who is in top 100 (Aisam's ranking is close to 250).
If Aisam wins, his 2nd round opponent will most probably be Marat Safin:D, let's say if there is a miracle and Aisam beats Safin then his 3rd round opponent is none other than Roger Federer.
Well done Aisam , you have done extremely well. Good LUCK!!!!!
Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi teamed with **Israeli **player Amir Hadad during Wimbledon and the US Open tournaments in 2002. Together, they were eliminated at the 3rd round of Wimbledon, and then and the Second round at the US Open. Wiki
WOW !!!
honor indeed for Pakistan
Hope this triggers some sort of a comeback for Pakistani Tennis Circuit
Wimbledon brings back nostalgia :hinna:
In my prime time, Borg, Jimmy Conners, John McEnroe, were the guys to watch, and a bit later it was Becker, Agassi and Sempras …
Current breed of Stars was still wearing pampers at that time
It's 3-2 to Aisam now, he is serving again and hopefully he will win his serve once again to go 4-2 up and i can see him winning this set 6-4 from here.
