Rachel: Okay. Wow! So I get to see what Joey Tribbiani is like on a date. So do you have any moves? Joey: No! No. Umm, just myself and if they don’t like me for—(Laughs.) I’m sorry I couldn’t even get through that. Rachel: I knew it! I knew it. Come on tell me your moves. Joey: Oh alright. Umm, well, okay, I usually start by having a bottle of wine sent to my table from a fan. Rachel: Oh my God. And that works?! Joey: Well it does when you combine it with, "This is so embarrassing, I just want to have a normal life!" Rachel: Oh, you poor little famous man. Joey:Oh okay, how about this one. I was gonna wait until the end of the night to kiss you, but you’re so beautiful…I don’t think I can. Rachel: (looks interested) Oh my God! Wow! That was fantastic, I almost leaned in. I really almost did!
**Joey: Alright, so…so tell me one of your moves.
Rachel: Alright. So where’d you grow up?
Joey: That’s your move? Boy Rach, you’re lucky you’re hot.
Rachel: Come on, just answer the question!
Joey: (exasperated) Queens.
Rachel: And so were-were you close to your parents?
Joey: Yeah, with my mom. Yeah, not so much with my dad.
Rachel: Why not?
Joey: I don’t know. I guess there’s just always been this distance y’know—I mean we both try to pretend it’s not there, but it is.
Rachel: (sympathetic) Oh. (Starts rubbing his wrist with her fingers.) It’s gotta be rough.
Joey: Yeah, it is. It’s really tough. Y’know sometimes I think—Wow!! Nice move!
Rachel: Huh?
**I hope someone can put video of this scene here. That wud be nice.
A 17 year old has been going through puberty for at least 4 years. He’s probably done a lot more bad things to him than this girl could possibly do to him.
Anyways, to the OP…is this a date or are you guys just hanging out together? If it’s just hanging out, ummm no need to flirt What are you trying to achieve towards the end of this date? A boyfriend? You can’t lie to yourself and call it a hangout when in reality you want to date. So don’t be one of those girls that sleep around under a hijab but still get respected because they wear a hijab (an extreme situation, I know, but just trying to make a point here). Also, unless the guy himself has given an indication of it as a date (yes, call it a date if it is a date. Don’t try to mask it with words), then if you try to flirt him, the so called bad year you’ve mentioned might just stretch out even more.
If this is truly hanging out, just watch the movie, eat popcorn and come home like the good Muslim girl your proclaim to be.
before i read any of this
dont call it dating. islamic way of find a spouse is not called dating. as simple as that. why because then people understand and use the word is dual meanings as you just did. "islam does not allow dating for the purpose of fun"
see either either islam allows or it doesnt
so using a word which has totally the opposite meaning already is not the right approach.
tell that to your childern, son/daughter you are old enough, so you can go date. but it is islamic dating. son/daughter be like &*%&%...
bottomline: just to justify finding spouse islamically and use the word dating in the same context you have said this this his you can do in dating but that that that you cannot do. if you tell this to highschoolers they be like are you crazy... i hope you get my point
Dating in 'Islamic' terminology means when a girl and guy want to get married, they are allowed to talk and know each other for a brief period (not like months or years) under the supervision of chaperones. This means that some elder or any family member accompany them while they talk which will help them decide whether to proceed with the proposal or not. This usually applies more to the arranged setting when the girl and guy are introduced to each other by elders. Islam gives girl and guy a chance to meet each other and talk and then decide to marry each other or not.
Islam does not allow dating just for the purpose of fun without any plan of getting married. Also, this Islamic 'dating' should not continue for longer periods of time. I think, 2-3 meetings are enough to know whether you should proceed with the proposal or not.
Islam does not allow girl and guy friendship, let alone allowing them to go on dates. So the Islamic concept of dating applies more on the arranged setting. However, if a girl or guy start liking each other (since they already know each other because they are class fellows, or colleagues, or through any other means), they shoud immediately ask their parents to arrange their marriage with each other. In such a scenario, there is no need for dating (with or without chaperone) since they alreaady know each other and know they are compatible to get married. So if there is any liking, they should get married immediately rather than doing on dates.
I have just explained the Islamic concept of 'dating'. Nothing is directed towards the OP or anybody else.
no touching because you are muslims but honestly i didnt know that flirtation and seduction were allowed in islam (this is what i got from your post) :D

I know its NOT dating. I just used the word to relate how meeting of a girl and guy for the purpose of marriage is ALLOWED in Islam since 'dating' means meeting of girl and guy when they are in a relationship or want to engage in romantic encounter. But other than the use of the word dating, I hope I was able to clarify what is allowed in Islam and what is not.
