OMG I hate to even think about it. I LOVE our school district...but our tax is about $1200 per month. Thank goodness our schools are as good or better than a really good private school and the services they provide to my special-needs son are beyond awesome...so its well worth it yeah?
If I were single and not looking for best schools, I;d not choose to live here. But something that makes us feel really good is that even in the midst of the dire housing failures in the nation, my area is not affected, the house prices are still the same.
So! Mid long island! I lived in Sayville, exit 61 on the expressway. LOVELY!! And also for a while I lived on the North shore near huntington. My mom and dad grew up in and near Port Washington. I guess because I grew up on the bay, I have seashore in my veins now. In high school, I worked in a clam bar. I went clamming, crabbing and fishing. HOW I miss those things and look forward to teaching my boyz!
