This alliance has already broken umpteen times already. But per Haider Abbas Rizvi, there was “international pressure” on MQM to save the government. He didn’t specify what he meant but probably he was referring to the US.
If the composition of the next parliament is such that MQM’s votes don’t make difference for PPP then there is high chance of more bloodshed in the city.

The intention was never to quit the government.. but to either black mail the government to gain some concessions or to bring down the government to form a new government where they could get some better leverage.

Election politics is going to be however very different. Both get votes on ethnic grounds.. so they will pretend to be the ultimate saviors of their respective ethnic groups.. to consolidate their ethnic base votes. In case of ethnic fighting between two major ethnic groups of Sind.. both these political parties will gain and ensure their electoral successes..
