KARACHI: At least seven people were killed and 20 hurt as violence erupted in several parts of the city following firing on Awami Tehreek’s Mohabbat Sindh rally, Geo News reported.
Unknown armed men opened firing on the rally when it reached old city area.
A reporter and a cameraman of a private news channel were among the injured. Several shops and vehicles have also been set ablaze by the miscreants.
All the roads towards Sindh Governor House and Chief Minister House have been closed with containers at the Shaheen Complex since noon ahead of the Mohabbat Sindh rally.
The Awami Tehreek (AT) and the People’s Amn Committee (PAC) have decided to bring out a rally from Cheel Chowk, Lyari, on Tuesday and to gather outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC), where the participants were to be addressed by President AT Ayaz Latif Palijo and Chairman PAC Uzair Jan Baloch.

But the rally was against Muhajir Sooba Tehreek. Does that mean MQM is behind such movement?

^ What do you think, you live in the city? when mqm is involved in any such activity even the main stream media is scared to name the culprits. They are saying firing started between the two groups, which two groups? When it was PAC they were saying exclusively that PAC is attacking the police.

I would repeat what I've already said in some other threads months ago. When MQM people can't see a simple slogan 'Amn ki Jang, Aafaaq ke sang' on walls of Karachi and immediately white wash that, how walls in there areas are filled with slogan of Muhajir Sooba and rallies are held in areas like Korangi and Orangi where they have complete hold. Its simple hypocrisy to keep your eyes closed on such a sensitive issue.

These are all acts of desperation, this is the image which MQM has not been able to improve otherwise they could easily have gathered support from disillusioned voters. The parties trying to wrest the city through violence I dont think will get the city, but civil war is definitely a possibility.

PPP is equally responsible. I think they are playing double game on the issue. Firstly, keeping MQM in alliance at any cost. Whats the reason for closing roads to Governor House and CM for a rally which was arranged for expressing a view to live together, when rallies for division are being held freely. Secondly, PPP must use this issue of Division as a fear card in next elections.

This negative politics in Karachi will push the city to a civil war, and we are almost there now.

One factor in this problem that we are having in Karachi is their (both PPP and MQM) support of Seraiki province in Punjab, which has given some people the reason to demand a Mohajer sooba in Sindh. I dont know if PPP will be able to get any seats from Seraiki belt, but they will sure lose out in Karachi as they have not been able to provide security to the masses there.

I have no doubt that PPP is behind it, just go through all the Nawaz Shareef trips to Sindh in last few weeks.
Mian sahab manage to have proper dent in PPP electoral their. Dirty politics at its best.
