Finding God

Re: Finding God

I tried to find Him on the Christian cross, but He
was not there; I went to the Temple of the
Hindus and to the old pagodas, but I could not
find a trace of Him anywhere.

I searched on the mountains and in the valleys
but neither in the heights nor in the depths was I
able to find Him. I went to the Ka'bah in Mecca,
but He was not there either.

I questioned the scholars and philosophers but
He was beyond their understanding.

I then looked into my heart and it was there
where He dwelled that I saw Him; He was
nowhere else to be found. ---- Rumi

Re: Finding God

Rumi was right indeed. :salute:

Re: Finding God

My question goes beyond. When will I find God ? When I die or on the day of judgment ?

Re: Finding God

on the day of judgement

Re: Finding God

I have seen God in idols and felt it's presence in m and around me.

Re: Finding God

Every now and then people see any human figure on leaf, or tree. What does that mean? Absolutely nothing.

One can make a sheep out of a** piece of cloud** and depending upon the wilderness of any person's mind, another piece of cloud
may look like a 'nude woman', 'sheep' or whatever this man comes up with.

Go figure.

Hence, the visual mean and methods to find or recognize God are bound to be flawed.

It is like trying to and believing in existence of a bacteria by using a hand held lense. :)

Re: Finding God

A slap from a learned scholar answers a young man...

There was a young man who went overseas to study for quite a long time.
When he returned, he asked his parents to find him a religious scholar or any expert who could answer his 3 questions. Finally, his parents were able to find a Muslim scholar.

Young man: Who are you? Can you answer my questions?
Scholar: I am one of Allah SubHanahu Wa Ta`ala's slaves and Insha- Allah (God willing), I will be able to answer your questions.

Young man : Are you sure? A lot of Professors and experts were not able to answer my questions.
Scholar: I will try my best, with the help of Allah SubHanahu Wa Ta`ala .

Young Man: I have 3 questions:
1. Does God exist? If so, show me His shape.
2. What is takdir (fate)?
3. If Shaithaan (Devil) was created from the fire, why at the end will he be thrown into hell that is also created from fire. It certainly will not hurt him at all, since Shaithaan (Devil) and hell are created from fire. Did Almighty Allah not think of it this far?

Suddenly, the Scholar slapped the young man's face very hard.

Young Man (feeling pain): Why did you get angry at me?
Scholar: I am not angry. The slap is my answer to your three questions.

Young Man: I really don't understand.
Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you?

Young Man: Of course, I felt the pain.
Scholar: So do you believe that pain exists?

Young Man: Yes.
Scholar: Show me the shape of the pain!

Young Man: I cannot.
Scholar: That is my first answer. All of us feel Almighty Allah's existence without being able to see His shape.

Scholar: Last night, did you dream that you will be slapped by me?
Young Man: No.

Scholar: Did you ever think that you will get a slap from me, today?
Young Man: No.
Scholar: That is Taqdir (fate).

Scholar: My hand that I slapped you with, what is it created from?
Young Man: It is created from skin.

Scholar: How about your face, what is it created from?
Young Man: Skin.

Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you?
Young Man: In pain.

Scholar: Even though Shaithaan (Devil) and hell are created from fire, if Allah wants, Insha-Allah (God willing), hell will become a very painful place for Shaithaan (Devil).

Re: Finding God

I think you need a tight slap, and that is only answer to your question...

Re: Finding God

Peace K7420

The slap of the scholar had an explanation ... please provide your explanation of the 'slap' that you are giving Khumar in context to what has been asked.

Re: Finding God

^ I think what he meant by that someone just has to 'feel' God, like the pain.

One can feel that but cannot see it.

Re: Finding God

^ Bailed out ... Well now we will never know what the context of "tight slap" was ... it was an easy enough answer, but why did it take someone else to answer it?

Re: Finding God

I find ALLAH in every step of my life........ in prayers, HE listens my problems n solves them, whenever i go alone home in night HEs always with me, when i say HIS name , every fear in my way just vanishes............ so i will say u have never have to find ALLAH, he is always with u, just have to feel it .............

Re: Finding God

Are you talking about actually seeing/meeting Him? I see Him almost everyday. When I look at how much effort I put in my studies and then I look at the rewards, when I look at my performance at work and then look at my rewards/progress, I can tell its only Him giving me so much. I really didn't deserve to be where I am today if I were to get only my effort's worth. When I look at my blunders/mistakes I make everyday and then see how I survived them, I know I couldn't have without His help.

Re: Finding God

Best answer so far (from my perspective)

Re: Finding God

never ask God to reveal Himself to you.

Re: Finding God

For what i have heard, you take a step towards Him and he takes two towards you. It has worked for me a lot of times when i have tried. I think its all about believing.

Re: Finding God

Everybody will give you a different answer, and it is mostly just poetic pap and ideas based on thin air (blind faith). Doesn't really work for me. I do believe in God but like a lot of people I have questions regarding God, the purpose of our creation, heaven and hell, the whole damnation of shaitaan and sending adam to the earth episode, life and death and so forth. And trust me nobody here can give you a remotely convincing answer. I plan on meeting one of these knowledgeable converts (like Yusuf Estes) inshalah and understand the logic behind things from them. I am quite certain that those people must have done their research prior to accepting these ideas, and I want to understand the logic behind them. So yeah, someday inshalah.

Re: Finding God

God is the voice that comes from inside and tells you it'll be fine when you feel like all is lost. God is love.

Re: Finding God

god is the easy way to club together the fear of all things unknown to man at that point in time.

Re: Finding God

God could just be a creator, whatever God is, the concept of it gives human beings strength to overcome all kinds of tough times. belief in an existence of a god does no harm in my opinion. love that Rumi quote by lusi, it's one of my favs
