^I think that's great advice. Depending on your interest, time on hand etc. I am sure you can find plenty of work online too. I work as a freelance translator and it works for me. I can pick and choose which projects I want to do(if at all) and when. Otherwise, I can take a long vacation whenever I feel like it.
Still I think that your husband is under a positive obligation to give you money that you can spend at your own discretion, regardless of whether you earn your own money or not.
