They took initiative on 30th October last year.. and the gathering at Lahore carried them for a long time. IK’s party is becoming a drawing room party making useless discussions all the time with a bunch of useless people around. They did not take part in bye-elections and lost a major opportunity to mobilize public opinion. With the size of potential public support for PTI.. they must take public initiatives if they really want to execute something. TUQ took initiative away from IK by actually giving an opportunity to frustrated masses to vent out their anger. I hope this time they are serious and actually connect with the masses for some real end results.. IK must demand an immediate impartial probe for murder of NAB official investigating RPP scandals through these protest gatherings..
ISLAMABAD: While the people and the media of Pakistan have not gotten over Tahirul Qadri’s long march, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan announced on Friday that his party will hold the “biggest ever” protest which will “trump all other protests people have seen in the past.”
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Khan said that he had kept his party members on standby for the protest, which is why, he said, he had earlier announced a 7-point agenda.
“Being a political party, we hold the right to lodge protests. About two million people in the United Kingdom took to the streets in order to protest the Iraq killings,” said Khan.
He said that there was a lot of pressure on him from his party members to join Minhajul Quran International chief Qadri’s long march, however, he said that he told his followers to wait for the “right time”.
Khan said that he will lead the protest “only to get free and fair elections conducted in the country.”
Responding to a question, the PTI chief said that there was “no question” of boycotting the elections, because “the upcoming elections are the most important throughout Pakistan’s electoral history.”
While talking about a caretaker setup to be put in place, Khan said that all political parties should sit together to deliberate upon the issue and that the caretaker prime minister should be the one agreed upon by all the parties.
However, he said that so far, no one had approached his party to discuss the caretaker setup.
Instead of thinking of mass protests, his parties should indulge in mass public mobilisation campaign. They should keep the protests, after the elections if they or not free and fair. They need to carry out their party elections as soon as possible and decide the candidates for various constituencies and then start the election campaign. No times for useless adventures now.

They must put public pressure.. that's the only way to get desired objectives. This logic of restrain against adventurism will eventually result in adventurism.. the only tool in IK's hand is public pressure. There is a sense of frustration which needs direction.. IK has to resort to public politick rather than these drawing room plans with a bunch of useless intellectuals..

At least the guy is credible.. and unlike others is not a criminal..
Let's hope he can trust his capabilities.. and rely on mass support which has to be mobilized now..
lets see, for the time being I believe the party should focus more on the elections. Put pressure on the government to ensure free and fair elections. In case of rigging then PTI and other aggrieved parties should unleash "PNA".
Imran Khan needs to a learn a thing or two from PPP, and PTI needs to indulge in politics of confrontation, especially now that the election is within sight. Otherwise it will be difficult to break the two party system. He should try to appeal to the disenchanted particularly amongst the PPP.
Maybe he is...until he gets into govt with his lotas. Prepare to be disappointed.
Give him a try, why not, but don't expect 'corruption to be ended in 90 days' as he claims.
Yes, surely he cannot end corruption in 90 days. He wouldn't have as massively beghairtly corrupt as PM as we have now at least.
We need to at least slow down the downward slide that we are experiencing in almost all public organizations. Absolutely no hope from this government to slow down its khaba program anyways.
No great hopes from IK. I personally don't think he would manage to win more than a few seats in elections. Only that he has developed a somewhat effective pressure group at least.
This is going to be the most open election ever. If the nation is still sleeping after what media has been doing for half a decade, than it must get Sharif, followed by Bilawal, followed by Sharif, followed by Bilawal...and so on.
I agree, the protest should be after election after observing whether elections were fair or not.
I’ll take this less politically intelligent guy who will work for the people over a political party who appoints corrupt, criminals as minister, prime minister etc.
