Well i ordered mine in the UK in Feb and was due to get it last week 15th May ( I never told them the real wedding date at the time which is June 12th)...
Now with my lenga its got jamawar and quite a few colours in it, although I was told before ordering that they may not be able to get the same brocade design I went ahead and ordered it as I was simply in love with it! I wanted a few colour/shade adjustments to it before they sent off my order to India and that was it, or so I thought.....
Then I got informed a couple of weeks later that they couldn't get the exact same brocade design in the same colours so I had no choice but to go with a slightyy different design in a similar shade and hoped it would turn out ok...
I happened to ring the boutique a few weeks ago to get an update on the confirmed delivery date for my lenga and i so happened to find out that they tailors in India had contacted the boutique just the day before my phone call because they were concerened the lenga was looking totally wrong!
Due to the different jamawar print and slight colour difference from the original lenga it was startin to look higgeldy piggeldy as I had had some changes made when I initially ordered and it had all clashed..and the tailors did not want to finish completing the lenga as it was that bad! Therefore they contacted the boutique owners to make sure if the lenga was to be completed.
And what did the boutique owners do? well they only went and told the tailors to carry on with the work on the lenga without even informing me!
What made me really angry was that if it had not been for my phone call I would have had a disaster for a wedding lenga and that would have ruined everything!
I was so angry and fuming with everything that I asked for my money back and got really upset...my hubby to be went and threatened the boutique owners and they agreed to make me another lenga-obviosly in accordance with the new jamawar print and colours...this only happened 2weeks ago and i got an update today that they are halfway through my new lenga and it should inshallah arrive for the 10th June which is pushing it but I suppose it could have been alot worse....
Best bit of advice is to really bug them and keep on top of things to avoid situations like mine and save yourself the headache! :-)
I'm sorry to hear you had to go through all of that, iA you will like it when it comes. Do give us an update after the wedding, even with pictures and tell us how it all turned out. :)
Try and remember that although I know these things may seem like the hardest and worst part of it all, but sometimes things don't go accordingly and its all just part of the process. At the end of it all, its your life afterwards that you have to look forward to because it will all be over in one day. I know weddings are so important but like you said, it could of been worse and it usually always can be. Its all in how you handle it. You seem to be handling it well though and Inshallah, after its all over, this will seem to be a trivial thing. I realized this after I fought sooo much to have the lehnga I wanted as well only to realize its NOT necessarily always worth it. :(
So basically, my point is to stay positive because at the end of it all, you will only have your memories so try to enjoy it as much as you can as opposed to dwelling on what could of been..you know? Think happy thoughts and relax. :) Jo hoga...to hoga. :) Wishing you all the best in these next three weeks and I hope all the rest goes perfect for you Inshallah! :)
