Re: Final - India v Sri Lanka, (06 April 2014) Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur
I do not know why some Indians are upset because India lost to SL. It was expected, as Sri-Lankan team overall was stronger than Indian team, that any person with little knowledge of cricket and players should have known. If Malinga would not have dropped Kholi’s catch, Indian total would not have even reached 100 … for instance, leaving kholi inning, rest of Indian team played 62 balls and made 47 runs (that includes Sharma 29 runs off 26 balls).
It was not all about under-performance of Indian batting but Sri-Lankan bowling was well balanced and quite effective. With bowling quality India has, India needed over 180 runs to give any challenging total to Sri-Lanka and even that total would not have been big enough to write off SL chances of win, as SL has enough batsmen in team capable to achieve that target in 20 overs or less.
Actually, when UV came to bat, Indian total was 64 for 2 after 63 balls (10.3 overs) and I believe that total of 64 was not enough at that stage to give reasonable defending end total (considering SL bowling quality). So, one cannot put fault completely on UV and Dhonni batting for low score.
