What will be the strategy of Pakistan camp, who will play and who will be dropped. Mind you I am not talking about GS Final 11. I am talking about who will be picked up by Inzi/woolmer as the final 11.

After 1st test Woolmer said there will be no surprises, players need confidence/backing, they are all talented etc..... what we saw was opposite of that. Salman Butt was dropped, Kamran Akmal was made to open.
I doubt there is any sanity in the camp at the moment, atleast we (the guppies) are out of sync with the camp totally.
There are chances they will persist with Farhat and Akmal, middle order cannot be touched, Faisal Iqbal will also stay. The only change I can see coming is in bowling, Gul/Sami (I hope its him :D) will be dropped to bring in Shahid Nazir.

The burning question is who to open with. Both Butt and Farhat are useless, do we have a choice? We are destroying Akmal by moving him up. Afridi definitely needs to be dropped. I think Inzi/Woolmer have to look towards replacing Butt, Farhat, Afridi and Sami.

^ Don't get disheartened with Afridi he should not be dropped just for performance. He may be dropped for "lesser number of all rounders" in Tests. I agree for replacement of openers and Sami.

Listening to Woolmer after the match acknowledging Farhat's "gutsy" performance, gives me the feeling that Farhat will be part of Leeds 11, if his injury will allow him. If he doesn't play then Pakistan will be having Taufeeq and Butt as the opening pair. Otherwise it will be Farhat and Taufeeq.
Akmal should be going back to his original spot.

I don't care how many changes they make I dont want to see Taufeeq or Sami in the team. I would rather have Kaneria opening the batting rather than Taufeeq.
These should be the changes,
Sami out, Nazir in
Razzaq out, Samiullah in
Forget batting, we need to strength out bowling line up as we are yet to bowl out England in 2 test matches. Razzaq hasn't done anything with the bowl or bat, and I have never wanted to see him in the test team anyway and he has proved me right. He's half the bowler he used to be and his batting is no where near good enuff at the test level. We should only have one all rounder in the team untill Malik comes back and that should be Afridi.
Even though I think Faisal Iqbal deserves to be given a long run due to his impressive performences, unfortunetly, due to him being a middle order batsmen, he has no place in the team right now. You cannot replace the combo of Younis, Yousuf, and Inzi with likes of Iqbal. So, untill Inzi retires, he's gonna have to sit out...unless he wants to open.
Opening has always been our problem, no matter who opens, the result stays the same, so lets stick with Butt/Farhat. Our main problem right now is our bowling due to the injuries to our top 3 bowlers. Imagine Australia without Mcgrath, Lee and Gillespie/Kasporwich. Lets hope Nazir brings in the much needed dicipline to our bowling line up as he is known to be deadly in helpful conditions.

With their Akmal/Farhat experiment failing so spectacularly, I have a feeling that the usually conservative Inzi/Woolmer think tank will go even more conservative (if that's possible).
If Sami and Farhat can retain their place after the Lord's Test, then they can definitely retain it after this one. I have said before, once you justify poor performances, you encourage them.
I have a feeling Afridi is going to get the axe for another seamer (Nazir or Samiullah). This is because the wicket will definitely be a seaming one and Afridi can't stay in the team on his batting alone.
Or the other possibility is dropping Afridi for Butt. This would be a defensive move so it's possible too. I really don't see anything dramatic happening. Dramatic would be dropping Kaneria for an extra seamer and keeping Afridi.

Gul won't be dropped. He was the pick of Pakistan bowling. Instead of dropping players, my guess is Woolmer will just be kicking some serious butt in the dressing room. At a minimum, our openers and bowlers need serious kicks on their respective arses.

Afridi hit some nice shots, i think he will hit form next game..
His bowling was better than kaneria's throughout the test!!!
id drop kaneria first, then iqbal and maybe razzaq... razzaq can't bat... he backs of like a little child.. embarassing.. adleast afridi has a go..

^ lol, that'll never happen, in fact i think it will b Butt and Taufeeq opening, and Rao Iftikhar in for either Afridi or Faisal Iqbal. Afridi has a chance at opening with Butt, otherwise he will be dropped. Razzaq will be kept as headingly is seamers pitch. No other changes, I'm 99% sure that will be the team. lol we r gonna lose again.
Farhat is definitly not playing, and Shoaib Akhtar has also been ruled out.

Yes I am leaving out F. Iqbal coz he got injured ( i think) however its pakistan old school record you need an extra player who can dazzle the willow with the cherry rather than craftsman of willow, as for Afridi he cant do bad at all, I mean what worse could be atleast we have a 50/50 chance at the opening slot(making runs / out).

I agree with your team, except that I'd drop Razzaq and keep Faisal Iqbal in his place. Mohammad Hafeez seems an obvious choice since he's in great form and scoring runs while OPENING. Don't know if the Pakistani think tank would take the initiative to call him up though. And Hafeez also gives us a decent off-spinning option.
