Filmi songs and social values

What happened to values of our societies, where songs like ‘Jab Pyar kia to darna kia’ were considered bold and not suitable for listening and all of a sudden ‘Jumma Chuma de de’, ‘Choli ke peeche kia hai’ & ‘Channe ke khet main’ type songs become part of wedding ceremonies. :smack: When society starts accepting such things, then sky is the limit… From Munni Badnam to Sheela’s Jawani, from Jalebi Bai to Chikni Chameli… where the society going forward? In bade bodhon ki zaban ‘Deedon se pani khushk ho gaya hai nigodi nai nasal ke’ :naak: Whats your view in this change in social values?

re: Filmi songs and social values

Modern ho rahi hai society :sid:
aapko kya takleef hai :emmy:

Re: Filmi songs and social values

On a serious note , every society is ever changing. What is accepted to the earlier generations is always different compared to the next generations. Its not just in our society but even the west too.
As you see in the olden days their ladies wore covered dresses which later changed to a little revealing dresses & now to completely revealing dresses being a norm.
Such changes exist in every society.

Khud to conservative ho aur society ke modern hone pe khush hoti ho:emmy:

Re: Filmi songs and social values

lolz i dont mind these songs but some songs like the one in love aaj kal "aaj diin charya" i hate them where they bring god in between love
its lyrics r like this

Maanga jo mera hai
Jaata kya tera hai
Maine kaun si tujhse jannat maang li
Kaisa khuda hai tu
Bas naam ka hai tu
Rabba jo teri itni si bhi na chali

i think rest is fne take it as entertainment :)

Re: Filmi songs and social values

I find our generation the best and most sensible, our great grandfather's generation partitioned India, grandfather's generation fought wars, and our father's generation is politically corruptest of all, it destroyed social values easily, spreaded terrorism, proxy wars, masjid mandir demolition are few to name:), Our generation at least talks and speak about tolerance which they probably never had, and this subcontinent is still feeling the heat of their bloody actions:@:

Re: Filmi songs and social values

:hmmm: But no generation can be good or bad in absolute terms. Its our forefathers who conveyed message of harmony and non-violence irrespective of any creed or religion. Today’s generation may be open to talks, but there are people in our generation who are very rigid about their point of view.

Re: Filmi songs and social values

Our generation is bloody & heartless too.
We have wars at a global level.
We threaten others with nuclear & biological weapons.
We only like to think we are better but we arent.

Re: Filmi songs and social values

Nothing is absolute in this world, our forefather’s also fought world wars and battles in panipat to enhance their personal hegemony in the name of religion:), they are the pioneers in using religion for personal gain:), our generation is at least ready to listen and even tolerate to some extent, they simply went for war to settle their ambitious non rational ideology:)

None of them are made by our generation and we are the only one who dread world war, it is true, the action of previous generation becomes burden on the next, whatever we do in this life it goes till eternity:)

Re: Filmi songs and social values

^If our generation was so good then there wouldn't be any nuclear proliferation or growth of bigger armies.

Re: Filmi songs and social values

These songs are not our culture or part of our society

Re: Filmi songs and social values

^Right. Our culture is, "kinnay kinnay jana bilo de ghar" and "ullu da pathat" and whole lot of Punjabi filmy songs that I can't even mention here.

Re: Filmi songs and social values

Waleed, whether we accept it or not, these songs become part of our society. I can't deny this because I've have heard my 2 years old cousin repeating ' Munni Badnaam, Munni Badnaam'. Ican't deny it to be part of our lives, when our Public transport play Naseebo Laal's ' Pyar di Ganderi' :)
