Film Hamari Tumhare Naam Hui
The thread title has been taken from Shoaib Mansoor’s program ‘Dhun Hamari Tumhare Naam Hui’.
Sloppywood is the official film industry of one our neighboring countries that doesn’t spare any species dead or alive from “chaapagiri”. They’ve the official right to copy. Jo film gaana dialogue duniya mein kisi nay nahi sunna hoga inkey 'karindey" dhoondh nikaaltye hain aur apni mohr laga ke distribue kar deitey hain. Mind you it’s a well-respected industry. Akhir aisi koi aur industry hai jo 90 saal say nakal shuda filmoun ka karobaar kar raha hai woh bhi profit ke saath!
Sometimes they lift blatantly the whole film and at other instances the story and its turning points are lifted but the plot gets tweaked a little. But that doesn’t give the person the right to claim it as his own work. ‘Inspiration’ should be credited.and blatant copy well it’s illegal in ‘mohazzab societies’.
I want to start with a film that has not been mentioned before because the plot got tweaked very cleverly. If you have watched the original drama you can spot which part has been taken and how.
Uncle Urfi
Bina a homeless girl takes refuge in Uncle Urfi’s house. She’s looking for her mother who had disowned her when she was born. Bina ultimately finds her mother, who’s now happily married. Her husband doesn’t know of her past though.
When Bina goes to meet mother, she refuses to acknowledge her (because her husband doesn’t know) and says she doesn’t have any daughter. Dejected, she goes back. Bina’s mother repents her action and discloses to her husband that she had a daughter. She goes to Bina and explains to her the reason for her behavior. Bina forgives her on finding the truth and goes to live with her. Bina’s step father is upset over her living with them and expresses his displeasure to her. She realizes things have changed and goes back to live in Uncle Urfi’s house with whom she’s going to get married.
Now a Sloppywood resident watched Uncle Urfi and got obsessed with it so much so he begged Shakeel(who payed Uncle Urfi) to work with him as he wanted to make a film based on Uncle Urfi. Sahkeel refused owing to the tension between the two countries and related issues. But he did not get bogged down. In 1976, he smuggled Uncle Urfi in a cassette and ‘chaapofy’ his name on it - ‘Kabhi Kabhi - A film by Me’.

Kabhi Kabhi **
Kabhi kabhi seems like an original piece of work until a ‘spoilsport’ happened to watch Uncle Urfi.

Bina becomes Pinky here. Just like Bina, Pinky is searching for her mother. She finds her but the mother refuses to accept she’s her daughter because her husband doesn’t know of her past. Her step father doesn’t like the idea of Pinky staying with them. Ultimately Pinky has to leave.Realizing her mistake, her mother discloses to her husband that she had a daughter. She explains to Pinky the reason for her behavior who later forgives her after realizing her situation. In the end Pinky gets married and leaves the house. The plot has been changed a little but the the story and its main turning points remain the same.

The character of the poet - the hero of the film, is based on the character of Uncle Urfi though with a different name . There are some tweaks in the plot but that doesn’t hide the inspiration. Just like Uncle Urfi, he’s a recluse and a loner. Perfectly dressed up always, very idealistic in his nature. He’s very egoistic and loses his love due to his own wrong decisions. He pines for his lost love for the rest of his life.
Scene - to - Scene
The scene where Bina goes to meet her mother for the first time has been copied straight away in Kabhi Kabhi.
Kya hi acha hota ke Sloppywood * ka ye resident thori ghairat dikhata aur apni film ke shuru mein kehta ’ kabhi labhi - An Inspiration’! But then it’s *Sloppywood *.They have different rules!
