film actors in islam

wat does islam say about becoming a film actor.

Re: film actors in islam

Depends on your intention and the level of decency of the movie you're working in.

Re: film actors in islam

Isn't the more appropriate question be "What has been people's interpretation of what Islam says about becoming a film actor"?

Re: film actors in islam

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

To hear the what scholars say about this, read the following link- http://63.175.194.25/index.php?ln=eng&ds=qa&lv=browse&QR=34958&dgn=4

The question is really about being in tv for dawah, but the scholar goes on to explain the ruling even if it isnt for dawah

Re: film actors in islam

Yes and no.
In Islam, it is understood that everything is permissible unless it goes against God’s commandments. It doesn’t take a scholar to figure that out.

Re: film actors in islam

Hai Allah... did they make movies and had film stars back then too shocked

I really need to update my knowledge sigh

Re: film actors in islam

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullah,

I disagree. The consensus of the scholars is that:

  1. In matters of dunya (such as the question mentioned here), everything is halal until proven haram.
  2. In matters of deen everything is haram, until proven halal.

Also, the reason to know what the scholars say is because of the fact that the advice of the scholars of Islam is far greater than the advice of ANYONE on this forum (unless they happen to be a scholar). And this is proven by the Qur’an and ahadith. If you have something against asking scholars, then please let us know.

Some people also don’t make any sense on this thread  : for example, thenewwannabe, by ‘back then’, if you’re referring to at the time of the prophet (saw), no one said anything like that. And also, brother hunk, you said, “In Islam, it is understood that everything is permissible unless it goes against God’s commandments. It doesn’t take a scholar to figure that out.”

What if its not in the quran and sunnah, akhee? How do we know if Allah has forbidden it. For example, the question the brother is posing. There is no DIRECT ayah or hadith about this. So, That is why scholars make Qiyas, ijm’a and things of this nature. Because on matters on which there is no direct address to them from quran wa sunnah, scholars who have a lot of knowledge (of qur’an and sunnah) use the best of their ability concerning the issue and any hadith or ayah that may indirectly relate to the issue to MAKE A RULING.

So, here are some more links on this. Although the questions posed in these links are not exactly what you asked, they’ll give you a glimpse of what you’re looking for, i hope:

Re: film actors in islam

Simple … He hasn’t
Islam is a complete religion. All the basic issues that we face are dealt with by Allah and His Messenger. For other more complex matters, what we need to do is break them down into the basics that have been answered. Then see if those are permissible or not.
(I refer you to my first post)

Re: film actors in islam

What I meant was that what if its not DIRECTLY in the quran and sunnah, and by this, I meant that that we obviously dont have the word tv or anthing about it in the Qur'an. Then we would obviously have to break it down into the basics. But who has more knowledge to give you on the matter. the one who reads articles on the internet and a few books, or the one who has studied these matters (scholars)? Allah(swt) also tell us in the quran, that when we dont know (about something), we should go to the scholars.

no doubt, what you said was of benefit and also GENERAL. You should also go back to my first post and check the link I provided. You will find out that the benefit of reading that will be of more benefit than anything said yet in this thread by anyone.
The words of the scholars hold value.

Re: film actors in islam

Erm, well if its supposed to depict a romantic relationship as mirroring what's going on in society, then what is wrong with that?

Its acting, so its not like he's really romancing her. Of course there should be limits, which our film industry transcends all the time, and hence their lack of popularity.

Re: film actors in islam

a question pcg, if fornication God forbids becomes a very common practise and its not all that uncommon anyway would it be alright to do that in acting? Because far as i know romancing is just as haram as fornication.

Re: film actors in islam

Suhaib if you are considering acting. Dont , its a very superficial medium and takes a toll on a person specially on a spiritual level, there are far more decent and sure shot halal ways of making money.

Re: film actors in islam

wat about if you be an actor but follow 5 pillars of islam everyday.

and no im not doing it for money.

Re: film actors in islam

waah bhai waaah…aap ki kia hi baat

Re: film actors in islam

You have been told already, such stuff is strictly not allowed. What else do you want? and what do the 5 pillars have to do with it? The five pillars make you a Muslim, you acting in the movie, is forbidden…but doing it will not make you a kaafir.

Re: film actors in islam

i think its not HARAM and please ppl dont go on makoing things on ur own ..
