BEIJING: China will immediately provide 50 JF-17 Thunder aircraft to Pakistan, an official said here on Wednesday.
“We will get these planes in weeks,” he said, adding that a formal agreement to that effect was likely to be signed on Thursday.
The official said Pakistan and China were already jointly producing the JF-17 aircraft, but these 50 planes would be equipped with more sophisticated avionics. He said the war planes to be fully funded by China would help bolster Pakistan’s defence and add to tactical capability of its air force.
APP adds: Ambassador to China Masood Ahmed Khan said China would provide over $400 million to Pakistan, including $100 million in soft credit and a grant of 70 million RMB, for the post-flood reconstruction and development projects.—Staff Reporter

Sir maintaining a Army and having best possible weapons is order of ALLAH and second things these are the weapons because of which India didn’t attacked us in 2002 and after Mumbai Attacks
dont worry our Pilots could hit an eagle with Ghulail even riding on a paper plane:D: quantity or quality doesnt work sometimes a brave heart and love for homeland is enough.
well i’m sure our army engineers and military scientists had already examined the leftware parts of that stealth chopper. They might and should find a way to detect it by now.
BTW JF-17 is not the best of what China can offer to Pakistan. There are plans for the advanced J-10s that are equivalent or even superior to F-16s. JF-17 will be a second line fighter of PAF replacing aging F-7s and Mirages. They are only good to counter Indian planes and can’t take on American planes.
Lol what indian planes sukhoi 30 or new rafale/eurofighter,as above last time paf and iaf went head to head was in 65 war, after kargil IAF has under gone huge upgrade, india is working on sukhoi T-50 stealth plane with russians to match raptor quality, equally funded by both india and russia, by time it comes out americans might have 6th gen fighter.
Pakistan best chance would have been either get J-10 or bargain deal from american for recent events likes of f-18
Pakistan wasn’t operating AWACs or air refuelers (will take more time to integrate) and the only capable jets were f16s which were being cannibalized to keep some of the fleet flying. I think even France had embargoed some of the ROSE upgraded jets that were in france at the time of kargil or even if they didn’t, then those jets were not available to be deployed. Pakistan might not have a match for flankers yet, but surely the alarm show by the IAF chief must have some merit to it viz the PAF modernization plans.
^^
Yes pakistan can modernise to match IAF in next couple of years.at same time india won’t be satisfied with current equipment.many people in india feel congress is little soft compare to bjp government, actually since 2004 when they have taken government defence budget is almost tripled,i dunno before 2004, now it’s almost 30-50 billion usd, current budget for 2011-12 is 36 billion usd
