There are reports that Afridi , shahzad and Akmal had some verbal scuffle with the fielding coach Grant luden afterwhich he got disappointed and sent his resignation to Chairman PCB.
There are no confirmations yet as if the resignation is accepted or no.
Re: Fielding coach Grant Luden resigned after Afridi, Shahzad and Akmal misbehaved
.....Why does Pakistan team need fielding coach?
Exactly.
They need Civic Studies and Discipline coaches.
If the news is true, they should not be allowed to play anymore. They are paid public money to do a job and think of themselves as beyond accountability.
Re: Fielding coach Grant Luden resigned after Afridi, Shahzad and Akmal misbehaved
So shahzad also thinks he is a super star, he has attitude problem and someone suggesting that he should be captain of cricket team.
I have doubt on Afridi but lets see.
Re: Fielding coach Grant Luden resigned after Afridi, Shahzad and Akmal misbehaved
Somebody has to show them how coaches rule the teams here in west. And thats exactly why coaches are accountable for losses/poor decisions etc. Players are supposed to listen and obey the coach, even if they are wrong. Thats it!
If Pakistani players are not ready to learn they better pack up and go home. Its a simple rule.
Re: Fielding coach Grant Luden resigned after Afridi, Shahzad and Akmal misbehaved
This is exactly what I mean when I say they don't rally around their captain. These players think they are above the team and team discipline. And it will show in their performance.
Re: Fielding coach Grant Luden resigned after Afridi, Shahzad and Akmal misbehaved
See the problem is, before any disciplinary action is taken against these players, some of their other "known" authorities intervene and try to prove how critical these players are for the team's success and bla bla. So like previous times they'll probably submit some kinda apology and it'll be slided under the rug.
We need one big action against all those who try to defy the management and things will sail smooth from there
Re: Fielding coach Grant Luden resigned after Afridi, Shahzad and Akmal misbehaved
Shahzad actually considers himself as a superstar which he clearly is not and same goes for Akmal who is not even a star. They have a senior mentor in Afridi who has never been known for his discipline so not surprised at these 3 names.
Afridi is retiring, Akmal i feel will be dropped for couple of years after world cup and Shahzad hopefully doesn't become a captain otherwise we will have another Afridi in making.
Re: Fielding coach Grant Luden resigned after Afridi, Shahzad and Akmal misbehaved
may be Shahzad and Afridi were trying to convert Mr. Luden by loud arguments and threatening postures.
these three think of themselves as larger than life figures. Afridi has played enough cricket so he probably doesn’t care but Shehzad has quite a few years to play so he must watch out and correct his behaviour.
As far as mindless Umar is concerned, he is an idiot. i remember when he took his wedding invitations to PCB and when he was stopped by the security guard from parking in front of the building, he created scene and physically and verbally abused him for which he was reprimanded.
thse hard-headed guys are just disgrace to the gentleman’s game of cricket.
Re: Fielding coach Grant Luden resigned after Afridi, Shahzad and Akmal misbehaved
Let us wait to hear both sides. Coaches should also learn to be respectful of adult players. And also learn something about 5he players culture.
It is about MUTUAL respect.
Coach shud be given respect and consider as father figure even if he is harsh you have to obey other wise you will never follow the schedule planned by the coach.
Manager need to finalize the report and if these found guilty must be kicked out for one year atleast. abhi perform kia nahi or super star bun gay.
Need to set an example so newer generation to follow
Re: Fielding coach Grant Luden resigned after Afridi, Shahzad and Akmal misbehaved
CHRISTCHURCH– Apropos of a news item appearing in a section of the press and run by several news channels back home in Pakistan, stating that there has been a tiff between three players Shahid Afridi, Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal and fielding coach/trainer Grant Luden and the latter has resigned because of it, it is clarified that the news is absolutely false and that nothing of the sort has happened.
The entire team trained together Tuesday afternoon, in a spirit of camaraderie, under the supervision of head coach Waqar Younis with each of the other coaches and assistant manager Shahid Aslam actively involved throughout the extended four-hour session. Ditto for Wednesday, where some players were put through their paces by all coaches, with Mr Luden putting in an extra hour on both days with a select group of players.
However, a few days prior to the start of the ICC World Cup 2015, Mr Luden had expressed his desire that for personal reasons, he would want to be relieved of his duties somewhere in May '15. Subsequently, as his issues were resolved, he took his resignation back. “The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the team management as well as the boys hold the job he is doing in high esteem, and are keen that he continues to serve in his present role”, said the PCB spokesman.
