Sorry for being off topic here Dushy but as I know , comparatively you are quite religious nature person then many of us here . So it bit tottering to see you making a topic of this kind . You know all five fingers aren’t equal but just in blind abhorrence of male community you have committed this mistake .
Put a hand on your heart and tell us , do you think the kind of modeling assignments our girls and boys ( let me put bhoys here as well , as I don’t want to do the same mistake) doing thesedays are accepted and appreciated by the norms of our society values and religion ?

Its not only us , men , who have double standards, its our society who does , for example if I go and marry some one from acting and modeling profession , kindly don’t assume that I am calling names to any one or any profession here, every one is free to do what he/she likes, none of my business. But would my mom and sisters, who are women (sensible and educated) as well , let me do it . I don’t think so. The very next day I will be kicked out of me home and get a social boycott in reward of that lovely job done. So people do have their preferences and do live with them but you can’t change society’s norms and value according to some one’s personal liking.

Although back in Pakistan , we have male dominated society with lack of education and tolerance of other’s beliefs and likenesses . But if you would like to change the norm , both participants ( male/female ) have to work together . you can just stand up and say hey you men do this , so do we cant blame you women solely for something . how do you feel if we men start blaming our mothers for our double standards, yes we can do it because they are our very first educational institution. Would it be nice ? nyah so we shouldn’t be doing it.

On the contrary, girls have posters of the male stars they have crush on, in their rooms. I dont remember many guys doing that

I know girls who follow life of Salman Khan like its their life. They know his favorite food, his favorite color, his zodiac sign and what not

Guys may have their favorite female star but they hardly are that crazy about them

And no, they dont talk about female stars among each other

Interesing question. But you have to exclude the men that actually dont love to watch them, view them, talk about them, and listent to their voice...and there are a number of them. As for the ones who do live on the basis of this double-standard....well I don't really have any explanation for that. In today's world. So many of us are confused as to see what's right and what's wrong. So, even though they are watching it but somewere at an unconcious level they know it's not right and thus the doomed relationship.

I have yet to see a place (airport, ....etc) where a female celebrity arrives and all the male fans shout their heart out with their full energy in a shrieking voice. (all at the same time) and run after her for autographs.

it is not double standard it happens cuz it gives u pain to see ur love one's body is getting cashed by others. every tom, dick n harry is having a pleasure with every thing related to these actors.

arjay- **with due respect, these gals wont gonna mess with u. one factor is the of the age. second, they also have to live in the same fraternity. third, agg nahi to kal they have to become a part of ur family. cuz guys of ur family (i mean ur bhanjay bhetejay) know the life of showbiz. **

another aspect is of mentality among different classes exist in Pakistan. if u call some rich gal b, her reaction will be different than if u do the same with a gal of middle class. same goes for their respected families. middleclass cant bear with the ta'nay-tashnay of their surrounding ppl, whereas elite class suppose to show this so-called modernisn (which is not even part of sensible westernerz.) **

p.s. amina haq dont even know how to speak, whereas acting is too much for dat soul.

**p.s. sunita is good (not par excellence) in every thing. neha sound extremely paindoo in angerazi, same as tania shafi in urdu. **

p.s. ZQ must acknowledges wat ethos she talked on "Maachis" n wat crap she did in "kabhi na kabhi" (its title song was enuf for me to guess the level of garbage gonna present in that soap).

I don't understand. What's the point of this? Those celebs that you are speaking of have a male figure either as a husband or as a father, but they have them. Are they not the men of our age? Yes, they are and a few of them probably did protest before they let them become an actress/model/singer.

Besides, I haven't known a man who is seriously into actresses/models/singers. They could care less about them. AND NO, they don't talk about them among friends either. This is a really baseless topic.

P.S. I asked my fiance if I were to become a singer, and he said it would be okay with him as long as I give him the same amount of time. Another thing, Men DO NOT ever compare actresses/models to their wives, sisters, or mothers. For them, it's pure entertainment.

Agreed! But, I can't help but wonder since they are watching all these hot shots and such a fake display of beauty which ofcourse they do admire and beleive to be true symbols of beauty. They must compare their wives at some point to these celebrities and sometimes not find that fake perfection?....off topic but something to think about.

^ Do they really admire it and think that's true beauty? I doubt it! Men never compare them to their wives. I can bet you any money on that! For men, it's JUST entertainment. Women tend to think too much into this, but really men simply don't care. They will tell you what looks good and what doesn't, they don't care beyond that.

Good question. I think if they maintain their class and remember where they come from, respect will be earned. In Showbiz respect is limited, being an actor, singer or model does not give one same amount of dignity compared to doctor or teacher. Title itself is controversial and shows that one is picked because of their looks or voice rather hard work.

I use English or Minglish to beat the very creators of same in many fields we are, Internationally constrained to--for survival and not forthe mentally sick GORAs who would still like to take us Muslims over with the help of our own people---by repeating the history of Tipu Sultan and Bahadur Shah Zafar...but then again you wouldn't know them!!! :)

Each and every body who mis understood the thread, from those who think that there is bias in the manner in which the thread issue was presented to those who would have me stay in their good books or not, i would like to disclose the simple reason why the case in point is men in relation to their tendency and actual behaviors that were mentioned above.

now please read this before you make any further pre judgments about me as a person and reflect you expanded notions of various other aspects which have been shared in the posts and thus the original issue became left at the sideway.

time and again i have said, in many of my threads that there will always be some women or some men that are referred to and not all.

that said, when ever an effort is made to discuss an issue with precision, you cannot bring in allied ideas or issues to complicate things.

here, all i was hoping to achieve was to make men realize that those who don get repulsed by models & actresses because of the nature of their 'profession', have double standards of wanting a PAR-SA BURKOON MEY the life partner.

if she were to state that she wants to be a model or an actress, she will be dehumanized.

in case of men, whether you want to admit it or not, men by and large are able to get away with their behavior.

yes, it is true that some women and girls also have double standards.

i hope that you don’t relegate your personal opinions to infer about what sort of a person i am, without first knowing and accepting the fact that the thread is not about who i am, but about what i presented as a social concern.
