That is such an oxymoron isnt it. I saw on tv one time an interview of the model ..I think Amina Haq...and she was saying that some of her friends were told to not remain friends with her by their brothers because she was a "model"...which is basically equilant to a girl with loose character...
Usually the same guys lust after the "model"...

Its just so ironic...Basically its a society standard but at the same time it is changing a lot too as more and more girls from good backgrounds are coming in those fields.
As for some ladies who want to do something from those profession like modeling etc, I have seen some men backing their wives up as long as everything that they do is at a decent level. A model I know ..was very proffesional...went to a modeling school in NY..has 2 kids and her husband was very supportave of her. The only thing is that they have to set their standards of what they are willing to do and what they disapprove..so that is very dependent on the person. At the same time I heard some people talking about her husband for letting her do that..but then again there r some people that just cannot control their mouths..Poor souls!

some women are also lustful after models, actresses and singers. they need to reckon with their double standards.
it is a manifold issue: the brought up of men where they miss teachings about respecting women, men's sense of entitlement to degrade women in any context (social, personal, interpersonal, intimate, economic etc), & men's wrong justifications for having and practicing double standards etc.
still, many men are never happy. deep down in themselves they are lonely, afraid and due to these feelings they act out, take advantage of women, or act insensitive to lay the burden of their own errors on anything at all.
thus, men remain miserable in their own dichotomies. They know it that their feverish force of suppression and oppression is in fact leaving impressions that are negative. yet, they know nothing different so they brag and continue the same double standard living even more. poor souls or not, they are indeed lost even when they are physically stronger.
they are afraid to say what they want, and ask for it. they cannot expect women to hold the same kind of feelings in regards to intimacy as they hold themselves. only experience and education can enable them to reflect on their actions and recognize how schismatic they are.

In regards to this topic, don't you think the women are also failing to voice their needs and wants and better take care of these men emotionally? Plus, women are not always the victim, esp in america, where men do get unfair treatment in different ways.

Getting physically attracted is one thing, but deciding whom you want to marry is a completely different thing.
It is the same for the womenfolk as well. I don't think many of the women here want to get married to Brad Pitt. :p

Having gone through each and every word of this thread--I would if I may ! like to extricate some thoughts on the subject by firstly reminding the author of no.9...that there is always a certain code of ethics--when one is in exchanges of thoughts on such forums.
Now then-----what exactly is the issue here?
Speaking of Models who are into acting...and popular due to their God given beauty and looks, we are reminded that there are ACTORS who have ( and preferring) to turn into MODELS....for modeling brings more economical benefits and popularity. But its a tough competition here in Pakistan...and MODELING is one profession where LUCK is hardly involved!
I agree with whatever Amna Haq told the interviewer--and I feel sorry that it is such way! I have known Amna fairly well--her having worked in some serial as my daughter--some years back plus some dramas sporadically. Incidently---a few top models of Pakistan----who address me as MAMOON are pretty well closely known to me; *Vaneeza Ahmed (my neighbor also), Zainab Qayyum (a.k.a Zee Q..he name I hardly use to address her as I find Zainab as much better spokenly!), Tanya Shafi and Nadia Hussain (Nadia is married to my nephew Atif). They all have acted with me in various plays....and two; Vinny and Zainab...have also traveled with us for shoots at Malaysia, Dubai and Turkey. I find these ladies and girls so robust, highly well mannered and most sensible and up-dated to discuss any subject--in total perfection. As far as males following them---Nadia already married, Vinny has been going steady with Shehryar for a while and may tie the know early next year..while Zainab awaits her dream prince. I have not and do agree that Zainab or Tanya are not linked with anyone. These girls are very professional and believe in giving 1000% of their professional blessings vested upon them by Almighty.*

All these good ladies & girls--I know quite closely, are well educated and have maintained their standards. I strongly disagree that they cannot be compared with common folks--In fact what is this phenomenon about common folks! For me everyone is COMMON and everyone is SPECIAL. The comparison factor is the aftermath of what one perceive's in mind!
MAHEEN Khan, the famous Fashion Designer--a wonderful and highly enterprising lady--is always in lookout for models and I find her approach towards this particular profession--a very scintillating one!
**Sunita Marshall, Neha...(no name dropping here for some1)* the list goes on.... have the talent-n-taste for their professions and a majority of them are lured into acting--seriously now....though it's still an uphill task for a majority of models in Pakistan to do acting--as acting is not a joke! but then again...who cares for acting as far as they see a pretty modeel on the mini-screen in some serial--irrespective of her dialogue delivery and facial expressions alongside the tempo---which, for a good actor--is foremostly required.***
I will not give marks to models other than Vinny, Nadia, Zainab and Tanya--and at break-even level--Amna, for good acting! Sunita is a bad actor and a good model...while Mona Lisa is a good actor and bad model.
Every profession has its worth! be it MODELING or ACTING or anything... its just that one's reputation and respect--lies in their OWN hands!

Now it seems a bit balanced, if we don't consider the exceptional cases. In fact in most of the Islamic countries today such thoughts are present. Though I agree that men might be relatively more than women in this catagory, there is another catagory where you might find women more than men. Which is;
In some cases they allow them to join such professions, it is alot of times due to "money and popularity", which is equally bad.

it is and it is not balanced. the purpose is not to compare two wrongs to make one right.
the purpose is to reflect independently on an issue which has crippled the respect of men in the eyes of women.
of course there will always be the qualifier - some men and some women.

& i agree what you stated that a lot fo it is due to economic reason of keeping women from professions where they dont have to cash their persons.

My name...is RAJU JAMIL and I am a columinist as well as banker, actor, writer and into various subjects..of showbiz since 1967. I am referred as a BOLD person when it comes to giving opinions. I know what i am scribing and never in any of my submissions (over 500 since 1980) in various magazines, journals, newspapers (both in English and Urdu)...I have ever disrespected any female. And the particular reference here in my submission is based on my being --literally a MAMOON or putting it more as understandable to the 'elite' generation ; UNCLE, to all the names but three-four...referred in my submission.
