FGM involves cutting or sewing up the female genitalia so that women cannot enjoy sex…a way for men to keep their women clean and male circumcision has no effect on how sex feels but female circumcision kills off all pleasurable feelings for women. it is widely practiced by muslims in africa…and in scattered places in iran, arab countries, pakistan etc…
it is another way to suppress females by suppressing their sexuality.
I was condoning the Islamic approved, less severe circumcision, not gouging out everything or sewing it up or slicing the whole clitoris off or anything like that.
Are there any non/FOGans on GS that are circumcised, lets hear from them.
BTW I think it is more cultural than Islamic, people (muslims) generally like to pass their ethno-cultural customs as Islamic. This is a clear example of it (Hadith or no hadith, it aint in the quran so it worth it). Similarly in Afganistan taliban invoked Islam for tribal customs (punishments). Didnt mean to deviate Back to "kus kappi".
Don't take Abu Huraira hadith's too seriously. I've read some reports on the guy that really make me doubt what he says - he narrarated a lot of anti-female hadith's and Bibi Ayesha really disliked the guy. I don't know for 100% if this is true, but Abu Huraira was a kid when he knew the Prophet and only spent like 2 or so years with him, yet he narrarated more hadith than even Bibi Ayesha did and she spent a great deal of time with him naturally.
He also lived at the royal palace and was a chamchaa to muawiyah, but then most sunnis think muawiyah is some great guy, whereas a close examination of the history would tell you that in those days, daal mein kuch kala tha. I think, personally, Abu Huraira's hadith should be treated with much doubt.

To my knowledge Abu Hurayra r.za was A sahabi, in fact one of the asahabe sufa. There were some controversies surrounding the narration of hadith but you realize that using words like chamcha and such is just very disrespectful. I doubt even Bibi Aisha expressed her opinion in such manner though she had much higher status and knowledge than you do.
Dont take it personally but why cant you state your opinion about these people in an educated and respectful manner?
I always thought it wasn’t Islamic at all. I mean if we’re given a body part solely for pleasure and no other reproductive purpose, why would Allah order it to be cut off? Doesn’t make sense

Same could be said about the foreskin, regardless of what religion says I personally wouldn't want it to stay causing raw flesh underneath it, better cut off. It's like cutting your hair or nails or umbilical cord.
for women the most sensual part is the clitoris and that is what is cut off in FGM....in africa it is like a ritual which is practiced and accepted. when girls come of a certain age ...i think 9 yrs..they bring them out in front of the whole village and the act is performed in front of all of them. This is done in order to ensure that the girl will not enjoy sex and so will not cheat on her husband.
also in some cases the vagina is sewed up so that men will know if their wife was a virgin or not.
i also want to state that the act is performed on young girls WITHOUT any medical instruments, anesthesia or professionals. usually a man cuts them up using a knife.......
