WADI workers said that four months ago in a village just north of Hasira, a newly married - and uncircumcised - woman was so badly treated by her in-laws that she performed the operation on herself.

I know Pakistani’s love to mimick their muslim arab brothers, I hope this practice is not flourishing in Pakistan or parts of UK.
Complex views on the phenomenon (decapitating comes to mind).

Your woman becomes clean and cooks better food, according to the article. Ironically the place where this occured was in a village called "germian" which means hot in arabic. I guess this is one way of cooling things down.

I heard that its practiced in Sri Lanka too

There are variations of this type of circumcision, some feel a tiny nick is sufficient whilst other cultures...mainly mid Africa like to cut away practically everything.

I havent as of yet heard of a Pak case, although with this fashion of imitating arab culture...who knows.

There is a Hadith(i have not got the actual wording so i wont write it here)...which is not regarded as very reputable which apparantly gives the option..... although if you wanna do it ....it does say that just a small cut is advisable.

Female circumcision is only found in Africa, where Muslims, Christians and animists can be found doing it.

Just as in the India subcontinent on other matters, religion gets abused to justify local cultural practices.

Welcome to Verizon’s dumbass excuse for a brain. FGM is an african specifically african christian tradition. If you look at all the countries that practice FGM they are all african. The only arab nation that i remember on the HRW and AI list is Egypt because of the Coptic Christain population according to a report.

Many scholars say that it is obligatory.'ø The Shaf'iyyah maintain that it should be done on the seventh day. Says ash-Shaukani, "There is nothing that states explicitly its time or indicates that it is obligatory."

WADI, a German NGO founded in 1991, started its activities in 1993 in the Kurdish areas of Northern Iraq. It also is supporting women’s projects in Jordan and Israel, where WADI co-operates with the Organization “Women against Violence” in Nazareth, which runs a shelter for women; and EDEN, a mutual Jewish-Arab Association for the Empowerment of Bedouins in the Negev.

Jest of the year, surely. The only nationals more ridiculed in Pakistan are the Israelies and Indians.

According to Islam it's only suppose to be the the hoody thing what looks like kukarr di kalghari, even then it's not a compulsory (fardh) Sunnah for women like it if for men, it's comepletely optional, some say it's preffered, Islam certainly isn't against this type of circumcision but it's against the more severe types..

It's not practiced by Desi Muslims, only about 0.1% probably practice it but I don't think it's wrong, if it were so should male circumcision be, not that I have a problem with that either, as long as it's not the extreme Jewish type and only the skin covering the glans is cut leaving plenty of 'mobile' skin on the shaft it's much better than natural, no filthy smelly smegma, it doesn't look like an elephant trunk and you can urinate striaght not to mention the fact that it's much easier to keep clean and prevents diseases in yourself and your partner.
