The topic of female circumcision has always been controversial and commonly accepted as being a cultural practice and considered haram as it mutilates the woman.
A discussion is taking place based on Islamic evidences on this very important topic which u can view and participate in. Please note that some people are very strongly of the opinion that it is halal. See the link below inshAllah
Khumar Islam is based on Qur'aan and Sunnah not your opnions.
Islam condemns Female Genital Mutilation as happens in some African countries where they cut the clitoris and/or labia off or sew it all up but female circumcision (cutting the foreskin) is not forbidden, it is only the same as male circumcision, however it's not obligatory for women.
Proof from the Sunnah that it is not forbidden (Haraam)
"Cut off only the foreskin (outer fold of skin over the clitoris; the prepuce) but do not cut off deeply (i.e. the clitoris itself), for this is brighter for the face (of the girl) and more favourable with the husband."
"When the two cirumcised parts meet, ablution becomes obligatory."
I know male circumcision is Sunnah, and therefore obligatory. But if you are going to back female mutilation in the name of "circumcision" and support it with some obscure hadeeths and twist the meaning of the surah in Quran, then in essence your saying that it is jaiz and is eventually obligatory.
Khair, I'd rather keep my opinions to myself in such matters. Good luck to you guys.

oh btw...thanks for enlightening me. I had no idea that Islam included Quran and Sunnah. I shall forever be obliged to you.
So Ahadeeth which don’t fit into your mould of Islam are obscure?
Subhan Allah, just remember sis that declaring haraam what Allah has made halaal and vice versa is a shortcut to Kufr.
Besides males have a lot more foreskin/prepuce than the hood of the clitoris.. Why the doubles standards? If the female one is mutilation why is not the male one?
Wait the latter is acceptable to your American masters and you don’t think for yourself but use them as a touchstone of right and wrong..
^
Nobody said Americans are evil, they seem like decent ppl actually xcept for their gov.
What's annoying is when Muslims can't think for themselves and have to judge everything and their religion by another socity's rules/norms/values which are not always correct.
^ What's more annoying is that when something is wrong, they point fingers at other governments and cultures.
Let's take a look at the issue at hand OK? Female mutilation by ANY society's or culture's standards is WRONG. Why is that so difficult for some people to believe? Do they really know what happens when a woman is "circumcised"? They cut off her clitoris and labia. It's done using dull, unsterilized objects. Ther'es no anaesthesia involved, and it's done at every age, not just at 1 day old, unlike with boys. It can lead to painful infections. THey do this so that she will remain "pure" and "virginal" because sex will be soooo painful that there's no chance they will cheat. The only way female circumcision is acceptable, is if the labia happen to be too long and cutting part of it off will lead to greater comfort and better hygienic practices but that's not how it's done in those countries.
Going back to your original point, I can think for myself, I know how my society is and I know what is asked of my religion, and I do not any under circumstances, believe that my society's norms (pakistani and american) are absolutely perfect.
first time i'm hearing abt it n all those islamic books i read i never read abt it not even in TUHFAYE KHAWATEEN which discuss almost everything related women in accordance with quran n hadith.
Everyone lay off Showkat...his post addresses female circumcision not mutilation....if you actually read the post it says that as well...
It says that removing the hood of the clitoris is halal and mandoob fdepending on your school of thought...
It then continues to say that removing the clitois and labia is mutilation and this is haraam by all accounts...
So please read the link and then comment...
but ap males ko kia paraishani hai?ye ladies ka personal matter hai:naraz:
yea take it to religous forum dhood ka dhood n pani k pani ho jaaiy ga.i’m sure AQ will hav gud answer to that
Well actually Mabrook it is a paraishani for the male cos no male would be hoping for a woman without a clitoris....i feel sorry for the girl cos she can not experience physical pleasure and i feel sorry for the guy cos you just aint gonna be able to pleasure that woman...

Even this was being done in Mayo clinic under perfectly sterlized and anesthetic environment, this practice is totally inhumane and tortureous.
Its inhumane and torturous to cut of the labia and clitoris not to cut off part of the labia...again there is mutilations and there is circumcision....
What currently happens in africa is mutilation which is cultural practice...not islamic practice...
