Feeling Nostalgic !

For those of you who are in their 30s and 40s ( I’m 33) and grew up in Pakistan in the 70s, 80s and early 90s what memories do you cherish the most ?
It could be anything random, things that you would like to do again if given a chance

For me
Bachoon ki Imran series !
Patang bazi
I used to build and fly model airplanes with my cousin and older brother in abandoned park
Collecting Stamps and exchanging them with my friends ( lots of people in Pakistan did that I have hardly even found 1 or 2 in USA)
School ki bus ka safar ( we had a long trip approx an hour and half in the heat of the afternoon)
Mr Burger ( in Karachi)
Cartoon at 4:40 pm ( for 15 minutes) on TV
Bakra Mundi

I know there are many more things but I cant think of them right now
Feel free to whatever you like

Also going to Khori Garden in Karachi to get Balsa Wood for model airplanes

Re: Feeling Nostalgic !

farman e ilahi used to be the last program.. after that quomi tarana… people used to open their TVs when logo of PTV (peacock) with typical music appeared on TV screens and close TV sets after watching minar e Pakistan at the end of qomi tarana :hehe:

Re: Feeling Nostalgic !

Yes that is in the 80s Zia ul Haq yrs esp , but what was before the film then ?
Do u remember the olympics on TV at that time ?

Airwolf ? Fall guy ? Knight rider?

Re: Feeling Nostalgic !

dang it was a peacock ? the PTV logo
I didnt know that

Do u guys remeber the sensation when NTM first started gawd new programs every day ! geez I nearly flunked 6th grade

Re: Feeling Nostalgic !

Before movie they used to telecaste,Senate ka Ijlaas and Qomi Assembli ki karawai. we used to ask each other ’ movie start hui’ and the answer used to be ‘nahin abhi bakwaas chal rahi hai’ :rotfl:

very vague memory of knight rider… we used to call it hath wali movie (probably there was a supernatural hand). Airwolf music was amazing

Re: Feeling Nostalgic !

hamare haan NTM nahin aata tha. people used to place antenna on long baans ke dande to catch the transmission. In windy days, people used to busy in fixing their antenna on roof tops asking someone on ground ’ ab tasweer sahi aa rahi hai’ :hehe:

Re: Feeling Nostalgic !

^ Lol
I'm from a shia family so we have a huge majlis/azadari scene with nazar and niaz.It took 2 months and I never eat so much in the whole year
tikkyas, kababs , haleem nihari sheer mal taftan and kheer in those clay pots yummy !

Re: Feeling Nostalgic !

taftan is a irani dish?

Re: Feeling Nostalgic !

Yes I remember
antenna ka direction change karna was a 3 man operation
#1 manipulates the antenna
#2 watches the TV

3 relays the shouted messages

Re: Feeling Nostalgic !

aray yaar half of pakistani dishes are irani turani
esp 12er shias have a fetish for all things irani
I remmeber our aunt went for ziarat and came back started talking in a "farsi accent"

Re: Feeling Nostalgic !

We sunnis also do nazr o niyaz. Sharbat ki sabeel.. milk-rose.... channe were yummy

Re: Feeling Nostalgic !

so have you been to iran?
i dont know why i feel this but i always think if mughal and muslim dynasties were allowed to rule till now or few years back...indo-pak would be quite similar to today's iran

Re: Feeling Nostalgic !

Yes our neighbors always did that also on the 9th and 10th they were sunnis but I never remember ever having any conflicts with them, infact in our row of houses we were the only shia family.
I honestly dont follow fiqah jafariya anymore but azadari is a cultural thing ( ok no more religious talk)

Re: Feeling Nostalgic !

any memories of these
