Feedback/Suggestions?

GS has a huge population, we all know that very well, even without constant reminders we do. You have members who will not let a chance to kiss the administration’s arse go to waste no matter what (not talking about all positive feedback here but the obvious instances where some people will dive right in like superheroes to supposedly defend the honour of the management and the forum), and then you have members who share their concerns and give feedback on certain matters that they are not happy with.

Isn’t that the whole purpose behind feedback/suggestions? Pretty much all of us who raise points here regarding how the forum is managed and moderated or what happens in the forum, we are all regular posters and I don’t think anyone does with the malicious intent to discredit the management or disrespect GS in general. I reckon everybody gives credit to the management, where due.

Anyway, if it bothers you that much, perhaps you should clearly state at the top of this page that any sort of negative feedback or criticism is not allowed here and we will all happily comply. Otherwise, I can’t speak on others’ behalf but as long as I am a member I will continue to share my concerns not because I love to stir sh!te up, but because I care about this place and it bothers me when I see something that I find distasteful or mismanaged. If I didn’t care, I wouldn’t bother giving feedback or suggestions.

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

^ now this thread has served its purpose…and its going to be locked up :omg:

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

^:cb:

Ok..that is true though…I have seen it that when there is some feed back that the management does not agree with…they always tell the OP to send PM without posting it here…and after a discussion the thread gets locked!

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

Word Jaanwar.

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

That other thread went few pages did not it, in spite of negative feedback. I locked the thread not because of negative feedback., but when I see the people's tone is not respectful anymore and they are using 3rd grade street language.

If a conversation cannot take place without the use of words like retard, arse and shhitter, then I will lock the thread every time.

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

Tariq bhai I respect that. But blurting out something like oh if you don't like GS and keep moaning and groaning, why don't you just leave it hahaha, I mean that really is kind of retarded. If someone doesn't care about this place and has no regard for it, why on earth would he bother with feedback and suggestions? Anyway, lets just be open to the fact that as long as there is people on this forum, there will be differences and there will be criticism and negative feedback. The purpose is not to discredit or insult the management, but to comment on certain aspects of how the management is being done. Its a mutual learning and understanding process that helps us all.

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

Let me touch on the PM part. The reason we try to encourage handling personal issues via PMs is to protect the privacy of the parties concerned. I don't think anyone likes to be bashed. Another reason is that when many issues are being discussed publicly, everyone likes to jump in and add their 2 cents making it very difficult to focus on the actual problem for which the thread was opened.

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

Yeah but isn't that the whole point of Feedback/Suggestions?

Every should be able to jump in and add their point of view.

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

where did you see that coming from anyone from the admin team.

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

I was just wondering.......say if a person has any problem with a mod....and it becomes a 'problem' between the member and the mod........what is the 'recourse' availabe to a member..........is there any?? since the appointment is done by the same people who are entrusted with complaints.......basically the member would be saying something against a part of the 'management'.....

i remember reading somewhere.....you can't open a thread against a mod...

just a thought on the organisational structure......

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

The following post called out the people complaining and implied they should have left GS long ago. I’m pretty sure that’s bashing the people complaining and is insulting to them. Just sayin’ is all.

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

Everyone’s jumping in doesn’t always add value to the conversation but sometimes it’s like 'let’s all vent and add our mirch masala" so in the end what was supposed to be a simple curry ends up being haleem. See what I mean? :hmmm:

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

Niks, when a bunch of people have the same or similar concern, a collective discussion helps everyone understand things better. Everyone who is concerned with a certain problem will give their point of view, get the administration’s view on it, things are discussed and ideally resolves, even if not resolved I reckon everyone understands things better. Its a collective learning process, considering it a collective bashing process is a tad too defensive and evasive. We all pretty much know each other, its not like some of us have hidden agendas to tarnish GS’s image or something. And I hate it when those people jump in who have absolutely nothing to add to the subject and just go hehe haha hoho and post smilies and random gibberish just to show their presence. Anyway, thats perhaps also the necessary evil that comes with the process. :hehe:

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

I've personally dealt with such issues before. Feedback threads were started on say a particular mod. We communicated via PMs and the matter was resolved gracefully. If you or any member has issues with ANY mod, please feel free to contact their Channel Manager and bring up the issue.

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

Well...I have seen the MODS telling ppl to leave GS if they don't like how things are handled...I am not mentioning any names..coz it was nothing to do with me personally...but at least some of them are not MODS anymore....

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

There are many incidents within my 2 years of directorship alone when we let go of a mod because he/she was found guilty in a dispute between a mod and member. Our sole purpose is to protect the dignity of this website and no mod or member is allowed to ruin it. But thinking that every time a member is going to complain about a mod then that mod should be reprimanded is an over expectation.

Also, if you have a complaint, post it, PM it of whatever. But just because you dont like a person and he became a mod, you are not allowed to start a thread on it. You cannot say, oh my god, what is wrong with the standards of GS that this moron like TLK is the director. You need to be more objective otherwise your thread would not be entertained as it would appear as a personal agenda against TLK than a a genuine complain

is she part of the admin team?

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

Oh meray sohnay wadday praa I didn't say it came from the admin team. Its just people who have absolutely nothing to add to the discussion who love to dive in just to show their presence. Kind of spoils the whole discussion. My main point being, we share our feedback here because we care about this place, not because we hate it and want to sabotage it.

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

send me a PM and their names

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

I know the process niks.......i was just wondering.....how can the CM or superiors be objective in any case when its their management being challenged or questioned?? basically people responsible for carrying our the work are also the ones reviewing it........

i would've gone on to say that a separate review body...separate from the management would've been better.........but meh....nevermind.

Re: Feedback/Suggestions?

You’re right that others could shed light on a matter and it has happened before. Unfortunately when you see feedback threads closed, it’s because of what I mentioned to GDIASA above. And believe me, some people do have hidden agendas :smack:.

Anyway, we do appreciate all of your feedback and trust you will take time to understand how we work, and no matter how hard we try, we will always have gaps that we will try to fill in. Thanks.
