We’re going to Scotland next week…I was all excited about it but as soon as I heard we’re going on a plane my excitement turned into fear. I become highly anxious during the flight…I know it’s a short flight but still I’d like to enjoy the journey instead of dreading it all the way to Edinburgh.
I'm the same. The worst is take off and landing. As Arain Munda said, reciting darood shareef really helps.
Take a book with you? Or some magazines? Just to keep your mind off the fact your like a gazillion feet above ground :)
I've just discussed it in my recent blog entry. I think the only solution is to just confront the situation and keep thinking that this isn't as scary as it seems. ermm.. I hope it works

Any tips to keep yourself calm during the flight?
Read GoT :D. Any other kind of distraction would work too.
Reading books don't do the trick. I'd be reading darud sharif and ayat ul kursi constantly but even then...little bit of turbulence and my heart jumps up and down. I need someone to drug me for the 60 minutes I'd be spending in the air.
The placebo effect of a Motilium Instant worked for me
I was having goosebumps in the plane last year, and I dunno why I asked for a motilium to my mom, took it and I was calmed.
Then the excitement took over me. I looove take offs and landing but the turbulences scare me to hell.
reciting the ayat ul kursi and the 4 kuls will help provided you have blind faith that they work as protection
but apart from that i dont really know never been anxious of flying myself in fact i love it but i do get motion sickness during a landing and if the plan passes trough a turbulent area
print out some of your old (GS) threads and read it during the flight....
...or do something to keep your mind distracted during the flight... for example sleepless/hungry kid.. :-|
