In our culture, children are introduced to various supernatural creations like bhoot, dain, chuRail, bad-rooh, pichchal peri, etc. This is sometimes done unintentionally (like while telling a story to children) and sometimes intentionally (to restrict children from doing something like ‘sham ke waqt baal khol ke darakht ke neeche mat jao’).

my parents never encouraged to harbour such thoughts and they always negated those fake/false stories going around.
superstition is a sign of jihaalat...before light, darkness was there and darkness is likened to jihaalat. most cultures harbour such dark belief system, a system of daur-e-jaahiliyah!
