Yes it is so. Mohammad Ghori who led the first Invasion of India to have gone as far as Delhi was a man who had no sons. He claimed his slave army were his sons and his right hand man was his slave Qutub-Udeen Aybak. This Qutub Udeen is the very same one of whom in Delhi is remembered as the builder of the Qutub Minar or Qutub Tower. Which at the time was the highest brick built tower in the World. Qutub Udeen was also the founder of the Delhi sultanate and his Dynasty is reffered to as the Slave dynasty. This co-incidentally was around the same time the “Mamluke” slave Dynasty was rising to power in the Arab world… particularly in Egypt and Iraq.

Yes for a long time I have been meaning to open a more in depth thread on this subject. Briefly though I would be tempted to say thanks to years of ingrained Pakistani military arrogance that yeah India had poor home defences… but that would hardly be fair nor accurate.

From a neutral viewpoint or as nuetral as possible one would have to say it was many factors chiefly technology. India has always been a rich land and this has been the reason for its invasion by others. From pre-historic times India was isolated from the rest of Asia, afterall it was a drifting piece of Africa for a long time. However this isolation was bad since other hostile nations had learned to harness horses and make better use of weapons than the natives of India. Likewise Egypt too was a simmilar case as was North America. Ussually the invaders were better organised and had better technology since they were more often then not hunter gatherers. While most of India’s people have been settled farming communities even the semi Nomadic Rajputs as I have said were from outside the Subcontinent originally.

I think primary reason of invaders victory was their war experience, and Invading tribes had extensive war experience, their weapon was both tried and tested and continous fighting made them to think about modernization of their weaponry and tactics.

Ghouri came with the archery and rajput fought mostely with sword and Javelin, The extensive use of archery was one tactical reason of his victory, Babur planned his every battle extensively plus he brought new thing called artillery but just like anyother tribe Mughals never cared in improvising their weaponary.

Noorjehan the defacto emperor during Jahangir’s rule was very talented and cunning woman, who expolited Jehangir’s love for her for a long time. It is said that Jahangir had effectively delegated all powers to Noorjehan and many historian quote that he was just content with a seer of sharab (alcohal) and a half seer of meat. She had tussles with Shahjahan on issue of succession as she wanted Jehangir’s son Shehryar (husband of her daughter Ladli Begum from her first marriage) to succeed Jehangir.

Apart from her involvement in power game she was very talented lady and it is said that costumes designed by her remained in fasion for over a century.

Nurjehan became so much powerful that her name started appearing on the coins along with Jahangir, Jahangir was addicted to opium and she ran affairs of the state. who designed chandni chowk? was it Nurjehan or someone else. that was really the great job

This is beauty of being sanatan, ever existing, vedic literature talk of Indra, mitra, varun, agni gods and sing hymns about saraswati, post vedic ramayan and mahabharat sings about shiva, Vishnu, ram,Krishna and Ganga being awarded with all blessings that dry Saraswati had. Vedic geography is limited to modern day Punjab and almost whole Pakistan but Ramayan and mahabharat talks about south India and even Lanka. This means they shifted themselves from saraswati to ganges planes plus Hinduism reached southern India. Hanuman was from south India, Khishkindha, capital of sugriva is in Tamil Nadu. Mahishasore died in mysore and Mata tulsi’s husband Jalandhar died in jalandhar, Lahore gets name from Luv, shri ram’son, Rawalpindi, pind of rawal, name of bhagwan shiva, Dacca from Dakhineshwari Devi.
