True, bcoz before that Persian was the language of darbar and mahal. BTW, I heard most of poetry which is being called poetry of Bahadur Shah Zafar is not actually written by him. Whatever the fact, I like following poetry of Bahadur Shah Zafar:

Did not know this song was related to Bahadur Shah. If my brother was here, he would have said “what pathos, yaar!”
