how come fatwaas only come from men and not women? there r plenty of mullanis out there, i’ve never heard a fatwa coming from a woman. i think i’ll declare a fatwa soon and start a trend.
u are mistaken suroor.. i know many mufti women in pakistan :-)
perhaps its the lack of ineterest in Islamic education form the women's side....
^ lol saray farishtay muslim to admi log he hotay hai na.
^
well, its not meant to be ridiculed, but Quran makes it quite clear, in a very strict note, that "farishtaa"s r not FEMALES....
so what do u make out of it????
^ i doesnt it say that farishtas r male either :-s
i think its discrimination. especially if Islam gives equal status to men and women. quite disturbing for a religion that claims to be perfect, no?
^
well then throw out the Quran you have in your house and bring in the one that can give you what you want. :halo:

arabic used for malaaika is the one that is used for male :-)
suroor, thats one reason why u cant issue fatwas....
if someone isnt a female, he's definitely a male....
its this common logic that women so often tend to ignore which causes a hurdle ni their way to making a good mufti....
or wud it be a muftia????

May God bless you :)

and my God bless u too....
for of all i know, i dont recall a single verse or hadith, or a fatwa issued by a male or a female, that stops a woman from attaining the post of a mufti....

exactly
Lack of interest by women in becoming a mufti, maybe?
i might be wrong but hasn't Farhat Hashmi given some fatwa's?
btw suroor for practical purposes females r not allowed to do certain things like give azan for example i think so maybe theres some reason i dono
i dont think farhat hashmi is any position to give any fatwas....
giving fatwa is not a small issue....
requires lot of conditions to be satisfied....
as opposed to giving azaan, where voice needs to be raised, as also in imaamat, fatwa can be given in writing....
ofcourse u all do realize that a woman'c voice is part of her 'awra'....

You are absolutely right Irem…There are certain reasons for which somethings are forbidden and some things are allowed…
I don’t know why, you don’t know why, Scholars don’t know why and in many instances even the Holy Prophet :saw: didn’t know…He just told what he was told to repeat and never asked questions from Allah :swt:…
All the Prophets from Adam :as: to our Holy Prophet :saw: never asked questions about any command of Allah :swt:, they just did what they were told to do, but the desi is one race of people which stares at the sky and challenges , “why the heck not?”
If victory lies in following the commands of Allah :swt:, how succesful will we be if keep questioning Him and His Messengers…![]()
Interesting!

i think it would be cultural reasons that act as barriers, not lack of interest.

what cultural barriers????
i dont think any cultural barriers that u have in mind r global enuff to not have produced a single woman mufti throughout the history in any part of the world....
