Understandably you are upset because you don't have real answers. That's okay, I don't think less of you as a person due to that. And being a gentleman I will treat not use foul language.
My sincere advise to you would be to take this as a learning experience and go get real knowledge. See.. Information without intelligence is not knowledge. You have the information, or part of it, go get more and work on the rest. Then we can have a proper fact and logic based discussion.

PS: Agree with interpretation point, ...and by the same token the four madhabs (or whatever made up term we are using) don't apply either. My interpretation in 2014 has little to do with the interpretation of someone in Baghdad or Damascus a thousand years ago. Any interpretation can be contested, especially if there are differing opposing interpretations around, this using an ages old set of interpretations as some must do is not applicable.

That's a much better response and indicative of an attempt at dialogue. I appreciate that. I agree with your point, my point in saying 3 of 4 madhabs disallow this was to point a conondrum in these so called Arab Wahabis intepreting these laws from 1000 years ago in Baghdad but then completely replacing their interprtation when it comes to mysoginy. If anything Muslims needs to build consensus about these issues now.
Consensus would imply that the rulings factor in all different societies and lifestyles. That would require knowledge, understanding, appreciation, empathy.
In my view broad based consensus is unrealistic today due to these factors. Not impossible as a rule, but just very hard to accomplish. At a regional level perhaps but beyond that will be tough.
Because of the head honchos in many nations who are closed off. Read some of the utterances of supposed scholars in Saudi Arabia if you have not and that will explain why I am skeptical about broad based consensus.
