What you think about this behavior ? Can beggars be choosers ?
Re: FATA delegation in USA
Great Going by the delegation, the took the stand for rest of the Pakistanies, i am glad that they are not from any urban areas other wise they might have taken their clothes off to please USA... ( many examples can be quoted from Mush's era)
I heard that they arrived in Kuwait, they tried to contact the "Ambaasaador" of Pakistan to Kuwait, who didn't even bother to talk to them... i guess the Ambassador was just doing his duty ( by not helping them out by any means... this is what the ambassadors of Pakistan do and get paid for)
Re: FATA delegation in USA
This behavior is the best behavior a Pakistani leader has put in on the last 25years, at least.
Much Props to the delegation. Does Tony Blair go through scanners? Do israeli ministers go through this type of screening?
When Holbrooke arrives does Pakistan put him through this much zillat and even Blackwater agents don't go through this much embarrassment.
Re: FATA delegation in USA
Its much to do about nothing. I go through airports scanners all the times. I don't know why some people are so paranoid about it b/c pretty soon it will become norm everywhere. What are you going to do then stop flying?
Re: FATA delegation in USA
Well, I dont see the problem there. was it the x-ray screening or the usual one. The usual one is happening in all corners of the world including middle east and I assume for Pakistan as well. However the x-ray one is not mandatory, one can ask for a pat down instead of going through the device. What is the problem in that???
Re: FATA delegation in USA
May be if Pakistani delegation could have shown this attitude during some high times . They could have been more diplomatic . Zaroorat ka waqat gadhay ko bhee baap bnana perta ha .

Probably they have more self-esteem than you.

May be you need to know what body-screening is and who it is for etc.
Re: FATA delegation in USA
I find it offensive when government representatives have to go through such checks.
If they were visiting in an official capacity, they should not be treated as potentially hostile.
Good for them, I say.

and what 'zaroorat' do we have?
What you think about this behavior ? ?
it is obvious. They are from tribal areas, and thus they are bound to show tribal behavior.
Body scans, xrays, security wands, pat-down searches are the need of the day in order to make the travel safe for ALL of us.
Regardless of religion, how many of us would like to be traveling in a plane while sitting right next to the famous "Islamists" like shoo shoo-bomber, the pee-pee bomber, or the @rse-hole-bomber etc.
Anyone? Henibal bhai may be? CAptain bahi may be? Any takers?
Anyone who says my luggage should not be xrayed because I am fulana fulana from Pakistani tribal areas, and makes a big scene out of it, then he should not be allowed anywhere except in his little a faqirastani wazirastani cave.
Re: FATA delegation in USA
didnt ted kennedy get scanned too a few years back?
Probably they have more self-esteem than you.

Would you enlighten me please.
Since Musharaf times, this is a norm, Pakistanis are treated like crap at US point of entries. If you remember what happened to our top most level delegate which included Khursheed Qasoori and others during their visit along with Musharaf at (may be) houston airport. Perhaps US got used to spanking Pakistani behinds during that era.
....... Since Musharaf times, this is a norm, Pakistanis are treated like crap at US point of entries. ...
Bhai,
Musharraf deserves all the cr@p you can dish out.
But
Do not rely on fallacies. Pakistanis are treated like terrorists because
1 - WE as a nation have been supporting Jihadis
2 - Our UK settled brethren have been doing shoo shoo bombing, pee pee bombing etc.
3. - Our passport and national ID card system has been hijacked by the Jihadis.
4 - In Pakistan, thanks to our Islamism, Arab terrorists roam free, while American visitors are bombed and killed.
5 - And the list goes on and on and on .......
So yes, we should mourn the destruction of our national repute, but do blame the responsible parties instead of dumping on just one guy.
Thank you.

Body-scan means vritual (not really virtual) strip search. I've been to US from Pakistan many many times (even during Musharraf rule) but never had to go thru 'body-scanning'. This particular delegate was high-level-official delegate, not some city/district-council-shura, they should not 've been subjected to this extra screening. According to what I heard anyone coming from Pakistan will have to go thru this 'extra-screening', I haven't double-checked with people who recently came from Pakistan to confirm enforcement of this rule.
Re: FATA delegation in USA
Wasn't the Indian Defense Minster strip searched when he came to USA
Wasn't the Indian Defense Minster strip searched when he came to USA
He may have, but it's condemnable.
If any delegates of any nation travel to host country, they ought to be treated as representative of a sovereign nation, not suspected individuals.
Burqa,
I guess these tribal people have more class then you. Not a surprise because you are a uncle tom ready to lick some western shoes. Where is the tribal behavior in this? Beghairati of showing there bodies full body scanners is embarassing for anyone having some class.
These guys already had been through security, but they did not want to go through the full body scanners in Reagan international. Remember 2 Pakistani women also flying to Islamabad refused to go through these scanners. Were these tribal women?
Re: FATA delegation in USA
When Shah Rukh Khan was checked a few extra times you remember how the indians reacted. CAn't believe some of these cats here who are ready to attack their own people because they are showing some ghairat of being Pakistani. I commend these people.
Burqa,
...... you are a uncle tom ready to lick some western shoes. ....
This is precisely the reaction of some blacks from the American inner cities. Whenever someone tells them to obey the law or work hard at job/school, they shoot (from the hip) back that the you are an uncle Tom, or whitey or something.
The point is that you are visiting another country, and they have laws, and you know those laws "before you board" the ship/plane/car/donkey/camel to head to that country.
Once you reach your destination, and your host country asks you to follow their law, you start cursing and shouting and complaining and moaning and groaning and then you hop on your camel and head back to your tent or cave.
If this is not aqal-less uncouth tribal behavior then what is?
Burqa, ...... Beghairati of showing there bodies full body scanners is embarassing for anyone having some class. ....
Welcome to the 21st century bhai.
Full body scanners are "security" tool and not a Playboy channel. Get your head out of smut and trash and muck please.
Hand patting has been done in Pakistan and in other countries as part of the airport/ concert entry points for decades if not longer.
fully body scanner is much better than hand patting. As no one is physically touching you.
Anyone who thinks that full body scanners are "embarrassing", then from international travel point of view, that person is surely living in the stone age, read caves, and worthy of riding camels and donkeys and not airplanes.
Got it?

Captain meray bhayee. I am very well aware of the 'new' body screening and I have seen the images on tv as well. I wouldnt like that to be done to my family , but and a big but is that its not 'mandatory', one can always resort to a body pat down. The same pat down which actually occurs in any country on which a US bound flight is originating. High level or low level individual everyone has same body parts, dignity and everything associated with it.....
What I like to raise here is that while the delegate declined to go through BODY SCREENING before boarding the aircraft and cancelled there tour, then what happened before they actually entered an aircraft. I am sure similar BODY screening or pat down would have been done. Cause if you deny any sort of body screening then you are not allowed to enter the 'secured' area of the airport. So there has to be something else done to these individuals. Which would be the pet down, which is the backup.
