I pay £220 a month to travel into london for work. Today on the train a guy comes sits opposite me and used 2 seats because he was so fat.
There were some people who were standing up in the train because they didnt have a seat, these people have also paid for a seat but could not find one and on the other hand this guy was covering two seats..
Ok if the doctor has given them an exemption because of some illness or medication which makes you put on weight then fine, but other than that these fat people should pay more, I go to the gym to look after myself and then cant sit down sometimes because some fat guy/woman is taking up 2 seats!!
and to top it off this guy was having a double dose of coffee with a fresh full fat cream overflowing from the top of his coffee..
Erm, i duno this is a touchy subject … i agree with u though, it’s not fair…but i don’t think u can do anything about it…just one of those things *sigh…
*But they must be really, really overweight if they can’t fit in a seat…which i’ve seen a LOT in Texas hehe…u kinda feel bad for them, but yea if u have a long trip and ur standing up after u’ve paid for a ticket, then it’s not rite but i don’t think anyone wud really make them pay for 2…wud they…
Please answer my question
the question was about fat people not the elderly, pregnant etc fair enough give them the seats but take them out of the equation, its purely about fat people taking up two seats
Rule is simple, if u occupy two seats you pay for two seats unless you are sick. Ask a FAT man to occupy two seats in an aircraft & let the others stand, can he ?
Its controversial alright. I once saw a fat man abused by a woman for being so fat and sitting next to her as he somewhat nudged her to the side further.
A fat person standing will still take up standing space but its better for commuters to at least have a seat, especially on the crazy London underground. The only issue is how to get the fat guy to move. You may need a bulldozer for that :) But seriously, I doubt a fat person would give up his seat and stand, they'll feel intimidated and offended. The only instance where people give up seats are pregnant ladies, elderly, or in my case, a pretty hijabi ;) I don't think there will ever be a law/rule for 'fat' people not being allowed seats as there are too many human rights and discrimination laws to protect you.
I think ugly people should pay more or be banned..its not nice being on public transport and being surrounded by ugly people..you end up going to work stressed
it's not their fault that they are fat, and btw usually the trains to london are not that crowded, you could have checked some other compartment i am sure you'd have found something. I used to commute outside london every day and have noticed that the trains are not that full.
Last year in states, an airline’s decision to extra-charge fat people caused a brouhaha. The rationale was that if the fat person is going to take up two seats they should pay for the extra seat – their demand for a free extra seat triggered this policy.
From the perspective of an airline, this is fair. If all passengers start demanding free extra seats, they’d go bankrupt (it’s a tough business and many airlines are on the brink of bankruptcy due to oil price hikes, technician contracts, etc.)
From a passenger’s perspective, I believe that fats of the world shouldn’t demand free/better treatment. I have seen people asking ground staff to “check out” the turbanned sikh guy before boarding otherwise they won’t board the plane. If this is the level of tolerance demonstrated towards “different” people, then I say lets extend this “tolerance” towards fatsos of the world.
Pay for the free seat you are hogging you fat free-loaders!
certain budget airlines in the UK had a policy of making elderly and disabled people pay approx £30 (i think)for a buggy to take them to the aircraft, the was a great brouhaha (luxery items word) but they had to pay anyway!
yep...this has nothing to do with seats but does have to do with discrimination AND
I REALLY wanted to used the word "Brouhaha"
Has anybody thought that THE TRAINS AND ESPECIALLY PLANES PUT IN NARROWER SEATS in order to sell more tickets.... so people who are erm..."big boned" look fat
especially compared to the ultra skinny people around
I think they are suffering from a terrible type of discrimmination.... they do have feelings you know...
