Last night for dinner I had a bowl of Aloo Channa Chaat. If cholay has fat in it, it must be good fat right? I don’t eat a lot in the first place. Once I started tallying down what I ate, I realized that my fat intake gets fulfilled so much more quicker than my calorie intake. I blame my fatness on that. So, I’m thinking, maybe I can go on a fat-free food binge. Or at least low-fat?
Would that mean I would have to turn vegetarian? No wait, my salad dressing provides me with 23% of my daily intake of fat =(
You cannot possibly go on a fat free binge and expect to loose weight as well as keep it off.
Salad dressings are a gimmick. They are actually much more fatty than we think they are. Its ridiculous I know...to have a salad and then kill it with dressing.
You dont have to go on a diet (they're over rated) or go on a binge to get rid of unwanted weight. Why dont you make adjustments in your diet without going on a regimen...that usually proves to be much more beneficial and long lasting.
Cut out soda/pop from your diet.
Increase water intake.
Reduce the salt.
Get rid of fatty meat and only buy lean meats.
Grill instead of fry...use virtually no oil.
Rediscover fruit and satisfy sweet cravings that way
Your chaat surely had cholay in it but there were other things in that chat too that might not make it supremely unhealthy but wont exactly help you either.
Agree with Reha 100%! Don't go for any sort of regime you can not maintain instead adjust your current diet. Avoid red meat or ask the butcher for leaner cuts or to trim the fat. Especially when getting ground/minced meat - get the butcher to trim fat before mincing the meat.
Use canola oil if you don't want to cook with olive oil. Avoid the creamy salad dressings, best to make a quick vinaigrette at home - olive oil, ( or canola) vinegar, black pepper and go easy on the salt.
Nuts have fats but healthier fats - so you can snack on them if you want.
When you read the food labels look for foods that have more unsaturated fats (mono and poly) and less or no saturated fats and trans fats.
Do not try to go on a fat free diet - 1 I don't think it's possible and 2 you need fat. About 20-35% of your diet should be fat - this is the Dietary Reference Intake recommendations which are followed in Canada and US.
My recipe of cholay chaat: can of chick peas, tamatar, namak, mirch, lemon juice aaaaaaaaand some fruit chaat masala. yum! so yeah...i know it's low fat, if not fat free.
however, i also know about the whole 20-30% of fat intake required. i get that. buuuuuuuuut i know i can also get it from the foods that i eat that normally have it anyways. ya know, eggs, bread (brown bread thank you very much) etc etc. it's like...the other extraneous fat which i can't help that i don't like which i wanna cut down on big time!
You do need a bit of fat in your diet. And there are good fats (olive oil, avocados, etc) and bad fats (fried foods, refined sugar, etc). You can pack on calories if you eat healthy food in great quantities but are not working it off. Eat in moderation...make healthy choices....and exercise regularly. Start off slow....and then gradually build up.
You know that BodyRock lady on youtube? She eats olive oil with like everything and she’s still pretty hawt! So don’t forget your healthy fats and oils such as olive oil, nuts etc.

Yep so you already know, which is even better. If you are looking for tips on how to reduce these high fat foods...well try with just reducing portion sizes, than move on to decreasing the frequency of these foods and slowly get to the point where you occasionally have such foods. Elimination will only make you want to eat them more.
