Im getting married in April too! I put my shaadi dress order in two months ago with Bunto.. im really scared about it too. Now i am trying to decide my walima dress by tonight. As for other wedding preps, Ive mostly been concentrating on our Engagement in December, then i can focus on the wedding in April.
That is so exciting buying stuff for the house, thats one of the most fun things to do imo! I went and did my gift registry at it was so much funnn!

I'm getting married in July! I'm really excited as it will be 2 years after our Nikkah. So far I have most of my jehez and my SIL will be making my baraat and Walima outfit. What colors are you guys thinking of? I was thinking of a very deep purple/eggplant with gold kaam. Walima maybe sea green?
Ive bought some stuff for our house like dishes.. does anyone have suggestions that are absolute must haves for house/apt?

Wah:) Love marriage i guess? :) My family and my husbands family live here, infact, we live 2 lanes away and never bumped into each other...our moms were friends but us kids never bothered meeting each other till one eid...:p and then the rishta, approval etc etc hehehe but my hubby is in Canada, went there to study n then started working so has been there for a while. Will get my homestuff once i get the visa and move there since we'll be moving to a new place. So yes, im looking forward to doing up the house! :)

And to all the courageous women out here who've been Nikkah-o-fied and waiting for the rukhsati...how much patience was it on your part? lol...:)

I dont think you need to worry much with a Bunto outfit, you can browse the links/posts on gupshup and you'll know that there has never been a bunto shadi jora disaster...the bride, everyone around her, and everyone who sees the pics is always crazy about the jora...so relax it will turn out PERFECT! :)
pyarilaila: Dishes, Linen....would you be doing up the house from scratch? Plus, i kinda find it wrong to get everything from the family, if the guy can marry, im sure he can afford a bed for the wife too:p Lol but on a lighter note, get the stuff you know he wouldnt let you buy (like cute frames, candles, decorative stuff) cuz men somehow just dont have the patience to shop for those ;)

Ours was actually completely arranged :-) It was very typical in the sense they came over our house and I served Chai haha. Our nikkah happened so fast so we wanted to wait for our rukusati once my husband was financially settled and I finished my Masters. Yeah, I think both of us will bring stuff and the major household items we can buy together. We're going to be living in an apartment but good idea on the frames and candles..I love photographs!

but we have waited a V long time to get married, baat pakki honay k nearly eik saal baad his mom put a ring on me coz we cudnt get to Pak sooner than that, then 2 years after that we had nikkah and now after a 16 months, in April IA we will get married IA Allah khair rakhain 
so that was my lil journey hehe.. at the moment ive bought essential things for the home, still need to get a few more things, but ill do that closer to the shaadi, one of my cousins started collecting for her wedding 2 years in advance, but her in-laws made a house from scratch so she needed absolutely everything! Thankfully I dont have that kind of pressure hehe 
pyarilaila, where will you be getting married? July will be hottt, make sure u have oil blotter tissue in ur clutch bag and get sum1 to keep u hydrated (hav ice water ready)… i heard about a bride in my inlaws who recently got married in may and she nearly fainted coz of the heat =/ yikes! and essential must haves for the home…, i would say are cooking pots, a dinner set, glasses, tea set, bed sheets/linens, and cutlery… there must be more but I cannot remember right now hehe
sea green sounds amazing for the valima, and indigo/purple shade sounds good too, u don’t want to go for the traditional red for the baraat??

YB, I'm getting married in Chicago and the hall is going to be air conditioned but good tips on the oil blotting sheets and we can never be too hydrated. Especially with the heat and all the heavy bridal wear. It was the only month that all of my relatives could make it out there.
I wore maroon and green on my nikkah and so I dont want to repeat the color. Also, no one really wears purple (I haven't seen any brides) so it will be a unique color.
I'm slowly collect stuff like dishes and glasses...I love picking up stuff for the apt, its so much fun honestly! We aren't going to be living with my in laws so it will be just us 2 so its going to be more fun.
For those of you getting married in April, are your preps pretty much complete? I know that my preps are going to take full force starting from feb.

Aww yeah if youve already worn it then it doesnt make sense to repeat it and i can understand, july=summer holidays, everyone is available and all… had all these problems wen deciding my date too, so now its on easter weekend where every1 will b off school/college/uni/work hehe
You are right, it is so much fun buyin things for the home and all hehe i have to stop myself from going overboard though =/ i dont want to end up with un-necessary things to take up space 
My proper preps will begin in december, thats wen ill b able to to go to Pak to pick out the dress etc, right now my dad is in Pak for a couple of weeks so he’s working on bookin the venues, its such a nightmare… especially for the mehndi.. i hope IA he finds something soon… right now im just taking a back seat and not thinking about it too much, wen the time gets closer ill become a bridezilla! At the moment it feels like its so faaaaaaar away, even though my sis and cousins hav already started practicing dances for the mehndi =|

i love these long length kameezes, i dont think they can ever get 'out' of fashion like the really short ones can..
and i like the churidars too, looks very pretty for mehndi/mayun
what im worrying about are anarkalis.. i dont want them to get out of fashion... EVER :(

Im getting married INSHALLAh in feb, what color do u grls suggest for waleema???
and i have kept my all dresses with long shirts but only a few are flowy/peshwas style and kept teh others in normal fitting ,and got made some with shalwar and some with trousers... this way i hope to tackle with the "fashion changing" stuff but i wish i wont change... i love teh long loose shirts :)

well i wish it was on 14th ;) but its at the end of feb becuz on my BIL's semester break,the date has not been decided yet ... my cuzin got married on 14th of feb last year and it was fun...............:D
anyway everyone is suggesting light colors for the waleema but in too scared as i have got a broad/heavy frame and i dont want to look big/fat on my waleema ... im going to wear and emarald green and red farshi on my wedding ... but cant find teh right color for waleemawedding day and red and purple are from the same family ... i decided chocolate brown but u never know the"aunties"(i.e. chachi's and phupi's and dadi's etc) would mind a bride... i thought about dark purple/berry color but my fiance says that it shud be a lttl diff from the in brown........ so now im totaly lost plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help girls

well some diff on walema.. wats say abt beige and something another light colour? light beige witt light chokolate brown will look awesome, quit diff, have never seen it before xD witt silver work on it, and maybe gold... both work witt look cool..

I am also mega confused on which colour to have for my valima but ive got till december to think of something hehe… let me try and help you… on my nikkah i wore watermelon pink with a dark pink/purple shade… it came out really nice, i dont have a supermodel figure so i wanted to go for something a bit darker and i loved my look, even though watermelon pink isnt dark, i didnt look far.. so i was happy so you can consider those colours… also blue’s are quite popular for valima’z, i have a few pics of outfits i can share them if u like :halo:

Teri Nazar: i am defo opting for yellow for my mehndi, going for a medium look, not so simple and not so heavy… no idea which style i will go for yet though, any recommendations??
