Fashion & Sleeveless

This is inspired by what I’ve been observing in the Fashion forum and by Irem’s thread, but I didn’t want to go offtopic in Irem’s thread.

Also, this isn’t meant as an attack. I am curious as to why people react the way they do.

So anyway, lots of times I’ve observed people remark that clothes are nice when they have long, short, or even tiny cap sleeves. However they get offended if clothes have no sleeves at all, and suddenly we’ve got a lot of :nono1:.

Why is it that some draw the line of “modesty” at sleeveless?

Irem, could u elaborate on that please, just curious :)
Why do you think it's wrong?
Techniqually speaking it's only 4 (?) more inches of added kappra and u half half-sleeves.

I just posted this in the other thread, it's better suited here :)

In this day and age every inch counts Shinz.

True Sahar. Whether its half your arm showing or 3/4th of it or all of it the bottom line is the arm is showing. I guess the only diff is that in the last scenario the armpit shows too :D Bu then where do you stop. If the arm is showing then whats the difference between the shoulder showing so u go shoulderless. If your wearing a deep neckline at the back then I guess u can go backless too. Gets confusing and the more you stretch it the further it will go. We all set levels of comfort for oursleves and then judge others on theirs if they happen to exceed ours. Very bad.

Well how about those kameezes with the thin straps, or even strapless kameezes altogether?

^ Now we are talking… Raise the bar, shahreen…raise the bar!!! :k:

For some reason sleeveless on Indian girls don’t look as odd as they do on Pakistani ones. Its just a matter of time when the comfort level will adjust I guess.
Recently, I saw some desi girls wearing sleeveless in Paki dramas on Prime and Geo ..well, more power to them. It will be quite a day when tubetops become the way to go for Pakistani girls. I don’t know if I am ready for that though...I am ten years behind when it comes to desi chicks.

They look so darn sexy. With the right kind of figure ofcourse.

I once wore sleevless long dress, but I gotta admit sleevless doesnt suit me, unfortunately.

oops

where does one draw the line when it comes to modesty? Have you seen regular jeans and pants/trousers these days? They are very fitted, if not skin-tight, not to mention low-rise pants/hipsters, etc. How are jeans any better/worse when it comes to sleeves cause you can still see the shape/outline of the legs and backside ... which could be more appealing than arms.

^ yeah what she said

and what about em fitted burqaas, I am still kinda confused about the concept.

Burlap,people...burlap!!!

burlap bikini? hmm could be the next craze u know

I know people will find a way to even make a burlap bag indecent by cutting slits and siht... Meri ankhein!!! hai allah!! S.H.O.C.K.E.D!

Or on the contrary how are see-thru white lawn ke shalwar qameez better than a decently fitted jeans and top?

Everything sucks.

interesting sahar, I got to hear this a lot at my sister's wedding when my saree blouse was sleeveless, If my parents are OK with it. why the heck cant people mind their own business

I still think wearing tight clothes is somewhat better than showing a lot of skin...both are wrong but one is more unappropriate than the other.

By the way, I am very curious to know what you guys think is an appropriate kind of dress? How do you define it??
