"The best thing about dreams is that fleeting moment, when you are between asleep and awake, when you don’t know the difference between reality and fantasy, when for just that one moment you feel with your entire soul that the dream is reality, and it really happened.”
How is the above post relevant to this thread?.........actually nevermind, I don't want to pick on you today....you are having hard time in other forums.......so you get a day off :)
I cannot totally agree with this statement. I think that we want thinks both that we can have and we can't have. Its just that the things that we can have, we strive for them and get them. But for the things we can't have, we just keep on dreaming about them without making an effort. Once we get something than that urge is gone, but of the ones we can't have that thirst still remains there. Haunting us all the time :)
So in essence , its the consistent absence of the object of desire that makes us fantasize about wanting it !
That dream symbolized that you are seeking to break -free from something that is keeping you away from what you desire , so that even though you knoe what you want , you are afraid to reach out for it !
So your saying you do not have anymore wants than what you currently have ?
what I meant Sheyn is that I grow the wanting of what I have, not to say that I dont strive anymore. I do have things that I want to take care of. i wont call then fantasies, but wish list.
Wanting what you cannot have? Well first of all, who said that we cannot have it? If it's something ridiculous or immoral then we should try to rid our nafs from that desire in the first place. If it is a worthwhile goal that requires extra effort, then we should work hard towards achieving it.
There is nothing wrong in wanting. A man without goals and desire is one that just exists without purpose. We just have to learn to put things in perspective.
