Why is it we always want what we cannot have ?

Well because we strive for more and different things and expereinces in our life.

If you want something bad enough you make it happen for yourself

But for me - what I want keeps changing with time.

what I meant Sheyn is that I grow the wanting of what I have, not to say that I dont strive anymore. I do have things that I want to take care of. i wont call then fantasies, but wish list.

But those wishes are realistic and achievable i’m presuming so they are not really fantasies but more like goals to be attained.

Wanting what you cannot have? Well first of all, who said that we cannot have it? If it’s something ridiculous or immoral then we should try to rid our nafs from that desire in the first place. If it is a worthwhile goal that requires extra effort, then we should work hard towards achieving it.

There is nothing wrong in wanting. A man without goals and desire is one that just exists without purpose. We just have to learn to put things in perspective.

And no i’m not even referring to unrealistic , immoral fanstasies but to decisons which one just din’t take even when the opportunity was offered simply because one looked at consequences of thier actions and overlooked
one’s own satisfaction !
