Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

I don’t get it, what is the purpose of this list? is it some form of boasting? or is it some form of inferiority complex and one is trying to overcome by claiming “he belonged to us”? :konfused:

Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

^No it's just like praising a not so pathan(looking/acting) list....But one must say..it is a good effort..

Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

Quite a few of the people (Kursheed Kasuri, Mohammed Ali Durrani, Nawabzada Nasrullah, Tiger Niazi etc) mentioned in the first post are from Punjab, whose "Pathan" families have lived there for many centuries. Just shows how welcoming Punjab has been to many ethnic groups (Balochi's, Kashmiri's, Pathans, Iranian's, Mohajirs etc) who have fully integrated into Punjabi society, without any problems. Contrast that to people who extol their so-called superior Pashtun roots, and dismiss or question anyone who has the slightest non-Pashtun blood.

:hoonh:

Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

Interesting list. It shows that Punjab is welcoming, flexible and broad minded land. I like ethnic diversity of Punjab.

Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

Abdul-Qadeer Khan Yusufzai (Nuclear Scientist of Pak)

Imran Khan Niazi (cricketer)

Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

Doesn't matter about "looking", in Pashtun society like other Asian socities lineage is paternal so it doesn't make anyone less a Pashtun if his forefathers married women from other ethnic groups because Pashtun society is racially mixed like pretty much all ethnicities.

Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

...

'Talqeen Shah' wrote in Punjabi as well.

Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

This list is just for information. no boasting , no inferiority complex.

Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

U are right that punjabees have welcomed all "muslim nations". well.... some pashtuns mostly pashtuns of afghanistan and nationlists do show the behaviour u mentioned it above. i also do not like this kind of behaviours i am only proud of our history.

Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

yeh i forget to mention our national hero abdaul qadir khan. he belongs to former state of bhopal ruled by yousafzai pathans and also bhopal has| had a sizable pathan population. If any one has seen the back cover of the book" history of pathans" by haroon rasheed, his picture is present along with his sayings. Famous actor amir khan is also a pathan from bhopal.

Imran khan niazi is ofcourse a pashtun but he do speak pashto and he belongs to one of the pashto speaking family of niazis.

Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

yes ,the pathans in punjab speak punjabi irrespective of their ancestral langauge. You have watched tanveer afridi singing punjabi songs. but it does not matter.

Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

Isnt Attaulah Khan also a Pathan from mianwali?

Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

If thats the case then all my mamoo & khaloo & Nana & blah blah are all Khans .... its all bull crap. We are all humans. Being khan or butt or sheikh or ranjha or gujjar doesn't make us better.

Re: Famous non-pashto speaking pathans

Does anyone know the origins of word 'khan'.

It was introduced by Mongols when they occupied good part of Afghanistan. It was Mongols who used it for themslves and not Pashtuns.
