Re: Family relations in Urdu

i like this thread so helpful thanks

Re: Family relations in Urdu

are your husband's sister's daughters called bhatriji?

Re: Family relations in Urdu

^ no they are called by their names :p

Re: Family relations in Urdu

Urdu and Hindi are so close that the line is very fine. Words Sans, Sasur, Jaith are all Hindi derived their etymology being Sanskrit.

Re: Family relations in Urdu

Wife's elder sister : Derh Saas..
Never understood why she is called 1.5 sass...shouldnot she be half saas.

Re: Family relations in Urdu

I've never heared the term "Derh Saas". I thought that the wife's sister is called Saali, regardless of whether she's the elder or younger sister.

Re: Family relations in Urdu

Hmmm never knew about this one;
Wife of wife´s brother - Saalehaar

Re: Family relations in Urdu

Humzulf

Re: Family relations in Urdu

alright, here's one for you

what would the relation be between by son and my khala (mom's older sister)
would she be his khala, par-khala, nani-khala? :D

and what would my son call my cousins? i've got some cousins that are older than me, and some cousins that are just two years older than my son.
what name would you use for that relation? :p
