You do know people have multiple children because they are uneducated and poor therefor they need the manpower?
Why do you think your parents/grand parents have so many siblings o.O Just for fun? No, they sent them out to work as soon as they were able to.
I'm sorry but it makes my blood boil when somebody thinks like that. =/ Unfortunately not all kids have luxury of having loving homes with endless money and free education.
Kakee I am not getting your point here. What are you talking about exactly?
As for my parents/ grand parents, I am not sure they had multiple children in order to increase the manpower solely, or even if manpower was really something on their mind really.
We are only three siblings so I dont think my parents had manpower increase on their mind anyway lol.
It could be for this reason (but least likely. Infertility wasnt really an issue back than.) So its mostly they just didnt mind having a grand number of children thats it. Maybe self complacent they were. And more than anything else, I think it was more of a matter of pride.

SOME people, yes, but some tend to have multiple children because they are uneducated about birth control and/or have no ready access to it. there are plenty of families with unwanted children in pakistan, for eg, because of these reasons. not everyone has multiple children so they can go out in the fields and work. plus, for those who do, having multiple children isn't the answer to curing their poverty anyway. its a much more complicated issue and it doesn't require 10 children to resolve it.
also please don't generalize about why our parents and grandparents had multiple kids. just because we're pakistani, it doesn't automatically means we all grew up poor and working in the fields lol. i have a feeling you might be in for some serious culture shock when you fly in for your wedding ;)

I have to agree with kakee on this one, I have come across a lot of poor people in the village and most of them have a lot of kids so they can earn or help out in the fields.
Men think it is an insult to their manhood if they have to use precautions.
And for the record this is not limited to Pakistan but I have seen this in Indian, Bangladeshi and Egyptian households.
before and after having munchkin I wanted 3... after having baba I was thinking.. maybe one was fine... lol
alhamdulillah very happy and content with my.two bacha party....
with munchkin... I had the full shabang of painkillers... gave birth naturally with epidural after 10hour of labour.... this time round.. dont ask....no painkillers.. no epidural... less than 3 hours of labour... the ops pumped up the inducing meds into me... and dear God was it paaaaaaainful.... I'm not goes lie... I felt hardly anything with munchkin... but with baba.... tuba hai if I ever think about pregnancy again
I would have loved to have 4 kids but I keep thinking how expensive it's going to be! I want to take my kids on lots of vacations, send them to the best schools and put them in whatever extracurricular activities they are interested in. All that costs a lot money so I definitely put aside my plan of having 4 kids. Plus I want to go back to my career and with 4 kids I know I'd never be able to do that.
^ cheryontop has good points but I also want to have atleast 1 more. I am not very young either and I think with age I am losing my patience and oh my god raising kids require so much patience !!!
I have always wanted to adopt or become a foster parent.
You're making assumptions again. I don't really understand why you're so judgmental about somebody you don't know.
You don't know where I've lived, what I've experienced. In fact I've probably lived in more third world countries than most of you ever will. You lived in Pakistan and America? WHOOPTY-DO. Its laughable really the arrogance in your demeanor.

Yes, we know that because we are EDUCATED.
I won't bother arguing my point. You can look it up yourself if you think its a blatant lie.
