^^ maybe. in pakistan the main problem is lack of education or selfishness. even the so-called "educated" people sometimes will indulge in manic stuff just for s*ual pleasure, and eventually end up with 4-6 kids. plus there's no concept of safe s* in pak.
^ I think it's the lack of resources too. Lack of entertainment or keeping themselves busy. For poor people this is the only free entertainment they can afford every day.
Croquet: Can you show us any effect of the iodized salt in 90s. If the rumour is true it should have decreased the fertility rate.
sorry to say it like this but, ulema have no bearing on when people conceive babies. they dont do so at gum point.
so these men who like proliferation of human babies do so under a totally different frame of mind.
what ethically and medically sane women and men need to do, is practice planning quietly and on their own.
live within their means and raise only a couple of kids than a teams of unfed, and struggling kids.
and those who can afford to raise more kids, it is their choice, still the better way, for young people is to replace themselves with two kids at best and no more.
epidemiologically the burden on earth's resources has to be at a good balance with population growth rate - simple.
^Another reason that I can think people having so many kids in Pakistan is the wish to have a son, people keep on trying until they end up with a large family.
u are absoluetly right. and they over look that this is in the hands of Almighty.
no one can guarantee what the chromosomes will make up to be.
people should be realy content with a healthy babay - girl or boy.

I dont know Light Bearer as i wrote above, i myself haven't done any study on the topic so i am not informed about that.
Plus from what i read in papers the iodine project didn't take off in Pakistan to begin with.

Well said. People can be - and need to be - educated on this issue from both a worldly and religious point of view. In worldly context, having many kids affects the earth's resources and directly or indirectly contributes to poverty. In religious context, it is authentically accepted that both men and women are equal and there should be no bias between the genders.
As far as other forms of entertainment are concerned, I think that there are many, even in Pakistan, and especially so after the so-called "media boom". Another issue that I would like to bring to light is educating people through media, through TV, internet, radio--especially our future generation. While it often depends on circumstance and takes determination to educate people through books, you can educate millions of people in a matter of minutes through TV. < These wise words were said by an underground Pakistani musician.
what is the population growth rate in diff parts of the country, and is there a correlation that can be seen with infant mortality rates, ducation and poverty?

forget the mullahs! only if we had sex education - supplemented by information on overpopulation - in our schools this problem could've been easily resolved despite the mullahs. if taught, the youth generation will have a more logical and insightful reason for family planning than the fanaticism of these mullahs, although i myself would prefer abstinence over the other "control" methods. btw is there any authentic hadith or is it in the Quran that it is mandatory to have many kids?

I dont think that ppl have so many kids because they dont know how to do it without having kids, because eventually they stop .. the reason are less about knowledge of contraceptive methods, and more because they want to have many kids because that is the way things are.

dude, so u are saying that once u get maried and lets say u have 2 kids you will then just abstain from sex?
or do you mean abstinence from pre marital stuff. If we are talkign of the latter, then I doubt that Pakistans overpopulation issue is due to kids having kids out of wedlock. Its more of the dude who has 7 kids and cant feed them, while had he opted for pne or two he would be much better off.
High population growth rates is consequene of the secular degenerates, at the helm since Pakistan's independence, wanting to maintain the elistist status quo...if they had not for their incompetence done anything about industralization and advancement of the country, the population crisis would have resolved itself...nice try at blame displacment and mullah bashing...try again though...

no, what i meant was that birth control methods are controversial with some ppl in pakistan, so i recommended abstinence for them. and since there are many such ppl i believe, i suggested that abstinence might work better for pakistan as a whole. i wasn't talking about myself.
in the end, i blame the people who have so many kids and cant give them the
god gave us a brain and ability to think and rationalize etc, so no matter
