False lashes

I recently stumbled into the world of false lashes introduced to me by my bhabs. I can only wear them on special events but they constantly feel heavy. Any tips or tricks to get them to look fabulous without it weighing it down. What makes a good pair of falsies?!? I have the Revlon one that has a plastic strip and it hurts. Do the higher ones have a better band? I have tried the red cherry brand which was like a dollar but way more comfortable than the Revlon but the latter looked more natural . So any suggestions on making the falsies friendly and affordable as well as how do I maintain them. Are they germ magnets and since they are sort of touching the eyes, how do some people reuse them and how do they clean them?

False lashes

I’m too scared to try falsies :sid:

And honesty, I don’t like the thick and long falsies that seem to be all the rage these days

Re: False lashes

I'm scared too, can't pull them off !!

Re: False lashes

Re: False lashes

I love the false eyelash range by Shu Uemura and have a few of their falsies. The only issue I’ve had with these is that they tend to photograph a bit oddly, where you look as if you’re a bit tired or sleepy.

For a subtle look, I quite like these:
Lavender Bloom False Lashes | Shu Uemura UK site - The Art of Beauty
Navy Twill False Lashes | Shu Uemura UK site - The Art of Beauty
Black Diamante False Lashes | Shu Uemura UK site - The Art of Beauty

For a more dramatic look, I love these:
Black Velvet Feather False Lashes | Shu Uemura UK site - The Art of Beauty
Luxe Black False Lashes | Shu Uemura UK site - The Art of Beauty
Smoky Layers False Lashes | Shu Uemura UK site - The Art of Beauty

If you don’t like the feel of wearing the entire strip of falsies, you should try individual eyelashes. With these, you simply add individual eyelashes to areas of your own lashes that you’d like to look fuller. These don’t feel heavy and can be worn for an extended period of time with ease. The only downside is that applying them can be rather tricky if you’re new at it. For individual eyelashes, I think Makeup Forever has quite a good range. I quite like these:

Single Eyelashes - 154 - False Lashes

Khatti- I didn't realize it before but my sister who wears them ALOT convinced me it finishes up the eye makeup look well and in my opinion, she was on point. My gol anda eyes looks elongated and almost almond like. I was so afraid I would rip my ginni chunni lashes out but with olive oil, the peeled off easily.

Philo- I literally loled

Megz- those are so pretty. How many uses do you get out of them and how do you clean them. I used to throw away the red cherry ones. Apparently I can get a few uses out of them but do I shampoo them?!?

Re: False lashes

^ If you take care of them well, you can get around 20-30 uses. I usually get around 20 or so. I usually clean them by dabbing them with rubbing alcohol with a cotton ball if they're not terribly dirty. You can wash them with soap and water, but don't use a harsh soap. When I wash them, I use facial cleanser as that is likely to be more gentle as it's intended for the face (I've found that the neurtogena pink grapefruit face wash works nicely) and that works pretty well.

Re: False lashes

i was about to say the same what mezhgan said.. use individual lashes if u r not comfortable whith the whole strp cut it in half and use only on your outer corners..curl ur lashes first use one coat of mascara put falseies and mascara again u wont feel heavy.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE false lashes <3 they actually give you that oomp effect ahem... i clean them with regular cleanser first i use olay and then wash it with any facewash and and i put them on tissue paper to air dry and tadaaaa :)

Re: False lashes

Just use individual ones on the outer corners, I personally don't re-use them as I think cleaning sort of changes the shape of them and they don't go on well.

Re: False lashes

^how r u :hugz:

Re: False lashes

It's not just in photographs, a lot falsies make eyes look tired/sleepy/droopy - people just don't realise until they see themselves in a photo.

Re: False lashes

Bad falsies are my pet hate. So often you see MUA's bridal look photos and stuff and the makeup is great but the whole look has been ruined by falsies that don't accentuate the eyes or end up doing the opposite of what they should i.e. make the eyes look smaller.

Is it permissible for a woman to use false eyelashes?.

Praise be to Allaah.

It is haraam for a woman to wear false eyelashes because they come under the heading of hair extensions, for which the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed those who do that.

Al-Bukhaari and Muslim (2122) narrated that Asma’ bint Abi Bakr said: A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said: “O Messenger of Allaah, I have a daughter who is newly married, and she had the measles and her hair fell out. Can I give her hair extensions?” He said: “Allaah has cursed the one who fixes hair extensions and the one who has that done.”
Al-Bukhaari (5205) and Muslim (2123) narrated from ‘Aa’ishah that a girl from among the Ansaar got married and she became sick and her hair fell out. They wanted to give her hair extensions, so they asked the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) about that, and he cursed the one who fixes hair extensions and the one who has that done.

Al-Nawawi said:
The one who fixes hair extensions is the one who joins the other hair to the woman’s hair. The one who has that done is the woman who asks someone else to do that for her. These ahaadeeth clearly state that it is haraam to fix hair extensions, and the one who fixes hair extensions and the one who has that done are both cursed in general terms. This is the more correct meaning.
End quote.

False eyelashes come under the same heading, because the real eyelashes are extended with the false ones.
Moreover some doctors have mentioned that false eyelashes lead to chronic allergies in the skin and eyes, and to infection in the eyelids, and may cause the eyelashes to fall out. So using them is harmful, and the Lawgiver forbids that as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.”
See Zeenat al-Mar’ah bayna al-Tibb wa’l-Shar’. P. 33.

The Muslim woman should note that paying too much attention to such matters may be a kind of over-indulgence in leisure and luxury, and a waste of time and money which she could have used for something more beneficial to the Muslims, especially nowadays when people have no drive to do good and women have been distracted from their basic role which is to raise the next generation, and instead they are paying too much attention to these matters.
And Allaah knows best.

Re: False lashes

^

Please refrain from bringing religion into this. We have a separate side for that. Thank you :)

Re: False lashes

You're quite right about this. Personally, I've found that with the more dramatic falsies which tend to be heavier (especially if you're not used to wearing them), it's better to cut them in half and apply them to the outer corners of the eye only to avoid the tired/sleepy effect.

I also think that when choosing falsies, you and the makeup artist, you should take the size and shape of your eyes into account as not all falsies look good on all types of eyes.

Re: False lashes

what's the point of fake eyelashes though? is it to make the eyes appear bigger?

False lashes

I love falsies! Their kind of annoying to put on but if you can get them right without ruining your makeup they look so nice. They make my eyes looks more awake and eye makeup more dramatic. Without them for party's my makeup doesn't look as heavy.

I have been considering eye lash extensions. Probably around the time of a major wedding, they last for about a month or so. My friend got one and even without makeup she always looked so fresh and awake.

Re: False lashes

I LOVE false lashes :D

Didn't get on too well with lash extensions but I know other people who love them..

Re: False lashes

^ I'm considering getting lash extensions for my wedding and had a couple of questions. What was your experience with them? What did you like and not like about them? Also, when you want to have them removed, is that something you would need to have professionally done?
