Faiza Iftikhar's dramas

Over the past year Faiza Iftikhar has emerged as a very prolific writer. I’ve seen the following dramas by her: Akbari Asghari, zindigi dhoop tum ghana saya, Yahan Pyar Nahi Hai, Thakan, and Bilqees kaur.

what I’ve noticed about her work is that she chooses a variety of topics to write about and has included some very strong characters such as sarah(played by Humaima Malik) from akbari asghari, bilqees kaur, the character played by Syra in bilqees kaur, saba qamar in thakan. She also touches on interesting things like the contrast between akbari and asghari in the drama (the meesnee vs the outspoken), life for immigrants in the UK/USA, cultural/religious issues such as the marriage of elderly (in akbari asghari), remarriage of a woman with children (zindigi dhoop tum ghana saya) and she touches on them very subtly without overwhelming the audience.

But an area she really lacks in is to take a story all the way till the end while maintaining its essence and characters. She takes her time building a story and its characters with interesting plots and then introduces some sort of dhamaka at the end and wraps up everything in the last episode. She’s also shown inconsistency in her work with some characters being complex and well thought out (such as bilqees and her youngest daughter in law) while some characters being completely black and white.

She’s certainly far better than seema ghazal and sameera fazal, that’s why i have become increasingly frustrated with her work because i can see so much potential in her but it looks like she needs some professional guidance or maybe take a break and create quality dramas rather than churning out inconsistent works. It’s almost like she becomes bored of her story mid way through it and hands it over to the milk man to complete. I remember all of us initially super excited about and praising Akbari Asghari and bilqees, both of which she practically flushed down the toilet. what do you guys think about her work and what is your fav drama by her?

Re: Faiza Iftikhar's dramas

I think she is good director. Liked her 'yeh Zindagi hai - first 13 episodes' and 'Tujh pe Qurbaan'. Didn't like Bilqees kaur and Asghari Akbari and left watching after few episodes. 'Veena' was also well written and properly executed by Atif.

Re: Faiza Iftikhar's dramas

but veena was not properly ended, same is the case with Bilques kaur!

Re: Faiza Iftikhar's dramas

Can anyone recommend a good one by her? where she does justice to the story at the end? btw aik nayee cinderalla has managed to create the kind of hype akbari/ asghari and bilqees kaur generated but i am trying to ignore it coz i don't want to be disappointed .. may sound strange to some, but watching a tv show week after week gets me really invested in the characters and storyline and seeing it all go to waste can be really disappointing (and almost heart breaking)

Re: Faiza Iftikhar's dramas

Exactly! you feel cheated by the whole drama!

Re: Faiza Iftikhar's dramas

I personally am not a Faiza Ifthikar fan. I recently did watch BK from start to finish - skipping things here and there and was pleasantly surprised that it was overall a well written serial by her. I do agree she rushes through things at the end as if she is tired of writing about the characters and wants to "finish them off"

I am not looking forward to the new Cinderella story mainly because of the main lead from the Humsafar parody - he looks more girly than a dashing prince charming that he's supposed to be playing.

F.I. has yet to convince me that she is a good writer.

Samira Fazal has a good heart but unfortunately her plays are dictated by the demands of the production house rather than what she would like to write about. At least that's how I feel. She had started strong w/ Sanjha but due to viewers demand completely changed the story. Her Bari Aapa looks like a complete "been there done that" bore.

Re: Faiza Iftikhar's dramas

OMG!!! she did it again! she pulled a bilqees kaur with 'aik nayee cinderalla'. WHAT WAS SHE THINKING OF????? like seriously? did she give the script to the doodh wala and ask him to complete it? the last few episodes were pretty painful to watch but the last one took the cake. She completely ignored all the main characters and ended everything soooo abruptly. what happens to the daadi? and the step mom? and the step sisters? and the hero/heroine? i can't believe she ended it with a sidekick calling "baghaawut' on another sidekick.

NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN
