FaisalAbad to be Renamed

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

indian cities are named based on their local language and not based on hindu identities
bengali people call calcutta as kolkata even before renaming it
tamilans call madras as chennai even before renaming it
mumbai also the same
the roads in delhi are named after the kings who ruled it including mughals
there akbar road, aurangazeb road, ashoka road, etc..
they all are new roads and they reflect our culture
please don't write your own assumptions :) , try to know the real facts

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

Naming cities and renaming them does not make a difference. What would really make our cities Islamic is if we have cleanliness. In fact, many western cities are more Islamic than ours. There should be rule of law in the cities.

We need cities where traffic runs in a civilized way (that we can learn from the west) and not the way we have it in Pakistan. In all these years we have forgotten one very imporatnt side of Islam - cleanliness & discipline.

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

The previous names were much better.

I suggest we change back to the glorious days of the Raj.

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

I support changing the name of Faisalabad because Cricket Test Matches played there rarely end with a Faisala.

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

Yes peoople of Faisalabad are also equal and loyal citizens of this country. They have made as many sacrifices for this country as people of any other region.

Even if the people of Faisalabad does not want to change the name of their city, they must still be allowed to cast their vote for it [and participate in associated public discussions on national expenses  ], if people of some region are allowed to vote (or decide) if they want to change the name of their region.

The rule must be the same for each and every part of federation. :naraz: If some part is going to vote for the change of its name, then every part must vote. :jhanda:

I (also) seek help from Pervaiz Elahi and Musharaf on this matter which is more important to this country and its people than anything else.

note: “Sandel-Barr” is still the official name for the region between the rivers Chenab & Ravi, it has nothing to do with Lyalpur or Faisalabad. Lyalpur was a city built by the British in this region and it was named after its planner (or whatever). So as for this city, Lyalpur was its origional name.

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

^For me laylpur is far better because it is after the city planner instead of some arab sheik with money.

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

so IMHO Zahoor Elahi was one of the biggest politicians in pakistan's history and a person who worked a lot for the development of Gujrat and its people. So Gujrat's name could justly be changed to "Zahoor-abad", "Zahoor-istan" or "Zahoor-khawah" in my opinion.

If Faisalabad could be named after a person who contributed to its development, then same must hold for Gujrat (or any other part of federation).

Some natives of Gujrat might also wish to change it to "Pervez-khawah" for Pervez Elahi's services.

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

Parvez Elahi was corrupt as hell, why would anyone want to disgrace their city after that nudnick?

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

^ if some say him corrupt, many disagree and think otherwise. Many people don't like the big Khan (Wali's father) and his politics as well and many still admire him as a big leader. It is a free country, every one is free to make his own political conclusion.

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

I dont like Khan sahib as a politician, but not because he was corrupt or he was a thief. I just dont agree with his political views, but still respect his legacy. Pervez Elahi on the other hand is a thug, a chor, nothing more.

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

u r free to have ur opinion. IMHO Pervez Elahi is at least as big a leader as any other leader.

Pervez Elahi is currently the CM of Punjab and this means more than half the population of Punjab respects his leadership, regardless of a few who disagree.

Anyways, coming back to topic. Many more will admire Pervez Elahi as a great leader if he can help the people of Faisalabad and ask them if they want to change their city's name or not.

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

Umer Ashraf, CMs are hand picked, they dont need peoples respect to come into power. He is a worthless thug, along with Chaudhry Shujaat, its a misfortune that we have to keep certain politicians in power to keep them tamed, or otherwise scum like shujaat, and Elahi need to be shot and dealt with ASAP. We should name a gadha gari after pervez elahi though, and a khachar after Chaudhry Badmash Hussain, that will be more appropriate.

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

^ there are many trucks and buses in Faisalabad. So if Pervez Elahi helps the people of Faisalabad in deciding if they want to change the name of their city or not, then his posters on trucks and buses will exceed those of the great Khan or even Ayub Khan and to some people that means popularity and good leadership.

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

yeah right, and pigs can fly...

there is no way you can convince me that these badmash chaudhries are 'sincere' politicians. We can however name gadha-gariz after them, Im with ya.

Re: FaisalAbad to be Renamed

Oh you took me wrong brother, go through and you will find out. Looks like you are still stuck at leaders and leaderships, but here the prime interest is allowing the people of Faisalabad decide the name of their city. You are always free to have your opinion and I was never interested in convincing you that Pervez Elahi is a good leader. However, you did helped the people of Faisalabad by providing a couple of points that they can use to make their case strong and achieve their targets. Thanks for that but I still believe Pervez Elahi is as good a leader as any other.

Its all about Faisalabad, its people and their right to vote for the name of their beloved city. People of Faisalabad want their leadership and government to come forward and ask them their opinion about the name of their city and take appropriate actions.

In return this government and pervez Elahi can expect an increased support from the people of Faisalabad, regarding votes, posters on trucks or whatsoever.
