Re: fair skin

I think its an offshoot of being close to neighbooring India. Plus people dont want to look like Indians or have their kids turned out like them. but I think this concept is dying out in Pakistan.

Re: fair skin

im pakistani and fair skinned (not too too fair)...but just fair :) a couple of times i have had people come to me and speaking arabic thinking im arab (middle eastern).....and I didnt like it at all. I am Pakistani and would only like to be associated with being pakistani. i wouldnt like to be thought of as being anything else. if someone approached me thinking im white, id feel horrible......or any other race for that matter. i just want to be known as pakistani.

Re: fair skin

In Sweden the tanned people represent the higher class people. Ain't that something

Re: fair skin

Seriously, Halle and Beyonce get darker when they take time off and go into sun. After a month or so their skin lightens up. Beyonce has white ancestry in her family also. Also depending how much light is around they appear lighter in photos and darker when its dimmer.

However , it is known that when you are white and your spouse is black ( African black) the child can come out in different degrees of darkness. They can go on to marry whites and so forth for generations to come. And lets say 6 generations down all were white since the first African and white marriage. Guess what can happen? Two white people get together and the child can come out darker or black in complexion. Weird eh, but its true. That is what they call a 'throw back'. And how many knew that the Aboriginals of Australia are not black. Even though they have black hair and dark skin, some a black as can be found in africa. Well they are not considered negro but caucasian . little trivia for those who want. :)

Re: fair skin

Halle 's father is black and mother is white.

As a kid there was a family down the street, Father was black and mother was white. The eldest kid was quite dark like father, the middle kid was white and the third child was white, but in the sun he got quite dark though not like his father or elder brother

Re: fair skin

It has to do with our proximity to India and the fact that @ 1 billion people over there are Hindus. Also, some Pakistanis watch Bollywood movies and as a result it has a cultural effect on them which is where the trickle down effect happens to us here in Pakistan. Nobody in Pakistan wants to look like Indians or have their kids turned out like them. Just go to Karachi and see some of the Mohajirs(especially the ones who havent married into local Pakistani and how they stand out in Pakistan, they look too atypical; though some Sindhis, Panjabis and some Pathans for that matter and even Makrani(who are african) are also dark, there features and height+cultural traits distinguish them from the Indians next door. Plus being fair has traditionally been associated with good, while black is associated with evil! In the last 59 years, Pakistanis in general have become fairer as a whole lot and will continue on this path in the future; largely due to shedding of black dravidian gene pool who went back to India and Bangladesh at independence and intermarriage within Pakistan and abroad. so i think this phenomenon whill die out eventually as we assert our Pakistani identity more along Afghanistani, Irani or even Arab lines(there not that colour conscious)

Re: fair skin

well put, I agree too ; we need to assert our identity and have more interlinkages between indigenous pakistani people then this concept will be more mainstream.:)

Same thing in Karachi to some extent, dark people are richer while the man holding open the door might be 6 ft tall with blonde/brown hair and blue/green eyes.

I agree and I think its slowly finishing in Pakistan but we have to stop all this Indian centric (bollywood, discussing indian films/actors etc..) to speed up the process

So right.. that would have made everyone equal.. And even theories like Pakistanis Vs. Indians difference is same as gora Vs Kala (based on the theory that Pakistanis are fairest among south asians) would have been laid to rest.

ur always doing subtle critiques of Pakistanis with Indians in all the other threads. I'll assume that your indian which is why u do this. u should go to your own indian forums and fight apartheit there.

Re: fair skin

I think for the most part that being fair is an issue with ppl who are dark. While most pakis are average colour i wd say around 50%, 30 % are fair skinned and 20 % are dark. PPl in Pakistan look more towards education and family background, last thing is colour.

Re: fair skin

I couldnt give a toss about them

Aborigines are classed as Australoid. Caucasians are Caucasoid. Orientals are Mongoloid etc etc.

The black baby coming from a white parent story sounds like the IVF clinic trying to cover their rears. It's possible to get white and black twins from inter race partners, but I dont think gene dormancy is possible. If so, can you explain it?

Re: fair skin

Bengali girls look very pretty. They have the most beautiful eyes:)

Re: fair skin

in the ancient days (pre-partition i suppose) men used to go from as far away as afghanistan, and other areas, to bengal, to bring home a bengali wife. cuz of their pretty, big black eyes, and their long, enticing, magical black hair.

not making this stuff up. is backed up by my khala, who was alive before the partition, and by my bro-in-laws genes and family shtories.

Re: fair skin

Samira you’d be surprised…

Re: fair skin

I am fair...fairer than most people in India/Pak...but I have always liked slightly darker girls...u know the Beyonce color...and Bengali dames perfectly fit the bill for me....I absolutely adore bengali dames even though the last one ditched me!!!they are the best in the world!

Re: fair skin

^ that might be cuz you are a Pakistani? I am just guessing.. beyonce knowles is Hollywood's Nandita Das.. Most of the ppl in my family are 6' or taller- it runs in Pakistan- I am not sure it is better food, cleaner environment, warrior tradition or maybe mixture of everything. An average male in Pakistan is atleast 5 inches taller than his indian counterpart

Re: fair skin

^ so far, the only things punjabis are well known for and confirmed true are bragging, and a big fat belly.

5 inches taller, 100 lbs more muscle, blah blah blah. exactly how many olympic medals do these gabrujawans garner every four years? forget olympics, just look at asian games, or even SAF games medal tallies. or maybe it is because they dont have buffalo-milking as an event?
