Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

*Seventy one years ago, I was born in England into a very dedicated and devoted Agakhani Ismaili family. Every grown-up member of our household was supposed to meditate in the early morning, between four and five. Three times a day, we all used to go to Jamatkhana (Ismailis’ Prayer House), *and recite the ritual prayer. This was a formally prescribed official prayer in *Gujrati *(a language the majority of Aga Khan’s followers speak), known as the *Ismaili Du’a. *Every believing follower was supposed to recite this authorized Du’a with full faith, without any variation. Until replaced in 1956, that (old) Du’a had a phrase *(Kalimah) *which formally Declared and Witnessed; Aly (son-in-law of the Prophet), the master of the believers, is *Shahi *(truly) Allah. While reciting that enigmatic Du’a, one would repeatedly prostrate oneself before the photographs of His Highness The Aga Khan Sultan Muhammad Shah Mehlati and affirm with firm conviction; the photographed mortal was the prevalent physical manifestation of the Almighty God (Allah). Huge multicoloured photos of the Aga Khan were hung from all the four walls of all the Jamatkhanas in the world ..There was also a verse in that Old Du’a which recited; Aly-Muhammad yakk Khuda huqq sanakh’th dafeh ballah. It translates; If you have the true understanding that ‘Aly and Muhammad (jointly) are one Allah’, then (all) your calamities will vanish. Any Ismaili can verify these facts from his/her Old Du’a Book or by asking the elders, over the age of sixty five. Those were the times in the Ismaili history, when I was born…Read More here… **http://www.mostmerciful.com/biodata.htm

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

a good book on shiaism
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0300035314/qid=1152028123/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-1780658-6775800?s=books&v=glance&n=283155

but title is misleading it gives very little info about origins of shiaism … for evolution and its subsects this book is gold esp. in the post-abbasid period

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

Do shias consider ismailis as muslim?I think they don't.Can pleas some shia brother tell me that?

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

Why we have an urge to find how much less muslim is the fellow next door, desk, mohalla, city, country or SECT ! Huh !

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

Yes, this is a well researched book.

Brother **Das Reich **the origins of Shiaism is very cloudy - by this I mean that it was political movement of protest in the beginning which over hundred years (300 - 400) with many twists and turns evolved into present day religious form.

That’s what gather by reading the book.

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

what do you know about ismailis?

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

It would be much better if we concentrate on ourselves.

To know how to google is not knowledge !!! Even if you consider this as 'knowledge', wisdom is still more important than knowledge.
So, lets pray that we get more wisdom than knowledge.

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

I'm here to seek knowledge and share and exchange my thoughts with others.
What if some ismaili accuse Islam and we don't know what to say in responce. Its necessary to know thier history to refute them. Also I never speak against any muslim no matter which sect it belongs to........
but ahamadies and ismailis are'nt muslims.

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

Who are we to judge that !

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

I'm not judging anyone......look at the article above, read it.The person is saying himself that he converted from ismaili to islam.

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

Its not about judging. Its about distinguishing right from wrong and supporting the righteous; not the fitna's mentioned above.

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

I am glad u liked the book brother
the origins are welldocumented in other texts but this one unfortunately does not spend much time on it e.g it only mentions siffin once or twice which was such a seminal event in the origin of shiaism

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

Just a small point as I do not want to hijack the thread and plus I don’t have the time.

Siffin and tragedy of Karbala have nothing to do with Development of Shia Doctrine – Important as they are to the Shia, these two events are related to leadership of the Ummah.

Hz. Ali (ra) has testified that Siffin has nothing to do with ‘religion.

Nahjul Balaghah, Letter 58

"The thing began in this way: We and the Syrians were facing each other while we had common faith in one Allah, in the same Nabi (saw) and on the same principles and canons of religion. So far as faith in Allah and the Holy Prophet (saw) was concerned we never wanted them (the Syrians) to believe in anything over and above or other than what they were believing in and they did not want us to change our faith. Both of us were united on these principles. The point of contention between us was the question of the murder of Uthman. It had created the split. They wanted to lay the murder at my door while I am actually innocent of it……………..”

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, ARE ISMAILI’S MUSLIM, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, SUCH A QUESTION ONLY ASKED BY AN UNINFORMED FOOL>

And you wonder how truly knowledgeable they are of Islam to offer any credible commentary on this board besides the usual Quranic regurgitation . RELIGION BY ROTE , IS RESPONSE BY ROTE, HAHAHAHA   :smack:

NO BRAIN REQUIRED

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

I think it very important first we clarify below mentioned points then debate on Ismaili community. In my opinion it is unfair to start paasing our judgements.

1-What is the definition of Muslim?
2-How many sect are in Islam?
3-Who are true Muslims in Islam?
4-Which is the best Madhab in Islam?

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

I know ismailies very well; a lot of them are good friends of mine. I have some knowledge of their islamic practices and I'd be more than happy to answer questions if there are any.

Oh and btw, they are very much muslims :).

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

This is ismailis fitnah that they’re not muslim but they call themselves muslim…
You lots worship aga dude…you lots say aga dude is Allah:naooz:

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

Try to go in thier Jammatkhanas and watch them praying ..

Re: Facts about Agakhanis by a former Ismaili

I think you are the best person to tell us incase Ismaili's accuse/abuse Islam because you was follower of that community. As for as decarlering them non muslims don,t be judge let religious leaders do there job.
I suggest such sectarian issues should not be discussed on this forums because it gives very bed imperation to non muslims.
It seem to me that you have personal problem rather then Islamic, best advice to you taken them to court.
