Now claiming myself to be a bit of an artist, the face person, yada yada yada…the other day, I had a surprising revelation regarding my ability, or rather lack thereof, to differentiate peeps of other races. Well, Chinese to be specific.
So me and my friend (who’s black by the way, so there goes my chance at putting my own kind down for our collective lack of intelligence) were roaming in the mall looking for bargains when we spotted this security pass card with a picture of chinese female on it. My friend picked it up and was thinking of handing it at the cash register when we noticed this chinese lady who looked exactly like the one on the pass card. We got up to her and were like, here you dropped this. Her reply that it wasn’t hers surprised us a bit, as if how can she not recognize herself in the pic. Feeling a bit goofy we again decided to leave the card with some sales rep. when suddenly another chinese lady walked by. This time, both of us went voila! that’s her. So giving her the card, we expected a bit of a thankful squealing. Instead we got a lifted eyebrow and an offended expression and she simply murmured that she’s not the lady in question. I almost felt like saying, damn lady how can you deny its not you? By that time, I was a bit tired of this game and decided to give up looking for hello kitty from a haystack of kitties. Thats when we finally saw the lady from the pic. This time we were both sure without a shred of doubt. I wanted to get rid of the card and go back to more pressing issues like finding nice tops at reasonable prices. Imagine our utter surprise when this lady simply ignored us as if we were some homeless asking for a change. Seriously miffed at our noble cause and wasting our precious 10mins on it, we finally admitted that they all look alike to us.
Now imagine getting mugged by a chinese and having to identify him from a queue of culprits.
Oh I forgot I can eaisly tell among , black and white, yellow and red , other than that telling people apart from one continent or one geographical region is difficult by just looking at their faces.
i can sometimes tell between puerto ricans, dominicans, mexicans, and other (guatamelans, venezuelan etc). and black, jamaican, african. and less so japanese, chinese, korean, and vietnamese.
Im pretty good at recognising what ppl are just 4rm looking at them, but i agree its cery confusing. Its like alot fo goray wudnt knw the difference if sum1 was pakistani,indian or bengali.

Gorays are just lazy, otherwise how hard can it be to tell us "bootifuls" aparts from Indians and Bengalis.

i dont think the question was whether you can identify what nationality someone is if they are of similar races, continents etc, but whether you are able to distringuish between people of the same race i.e. are you able to tell diff chinese ppl apart as easily as you can tell diff desi ppl apart, or do you have a hard time distinguishing them from each other.
